It’s Time To Say Goodbye To Jujutsu Kaisen’s Best Character

This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen.

The story of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo picks up 68 years after the original series, and continues to explore what happened to the previous generation of sorcerers. Fans have been eager to find out what became of these well-loved characters.

Although Yuji Itadori and Nobara are confirmed to be alive, many fans believe Megumi Fushiguro may have died. Chapter 13 of JJK Modulo strongly suggested his death, which came as a shock to a lot of people. He remains the most popular character in the series.

Megumi Fushiguro’s Death Is Strongly Hinted In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

In the 13th chapter of JJK Modulo, a fight to the death was arranged between aliens and humans. The winning side would gain control of Tokyo, the city where cursed spirits are held. If the aliens win, they plan to build a new nation in Tokyo and handle the cursed spirits. If the sorcerers win, they’ll continue their annual exorcisms as usual.

I remember the last time I saw Yuji – it was at Hana’s funeral. He told me right then and there he was done with funerals, period. It sounds weird, because he looks like he could take anything, but honestly, he’s a total softie. Seeing people go just… really gets to him. And honestly, it was getting hard on me too, watching him. It’s just… he doesn’t age like the rest of us, you know?

The sorcerers need Yuji to fight, but he’s missing. Nobara explained that Yuji is deeply affected by the deaths of people he cared about. He’s suffered significant losses, and one of them was so painful that he’s withdrawn from everyone. It seems Yuji was closest to Megumi, and his death is likely the reason Yuji is now isolating himself.

Hana Kurusu Died Most Recently In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

It’s now confirmed that Hana has passed away. Many fans were aware of the close relationship between Hana and Megumi, which the author hinted at becoming significant towards the story’s conclusion. Nobara referring to Hana by her first name suggests they had grown very close. This might also have been a way to subtly indicate Hana had taken the Fushiguro family name. Following Hana’s death, Yuji distanced himself from his remaining friends, overwhelmed by their successive deaths and his own grief.

Megumi Is Likely Already Dead In JJK Modulo

Chapter 13 of the JJK Modulo manga strongly suggests Megumi is missing, as he wasn’t included in the search for Yuji. Nobara continues to push forward, but Yuji appears to be unable to age. It seems both Megumi and Hana have died, similar to Yuta and Maki.

Has anyone found Yuji Itadori? We haven’t been able to find him, and it’s a serious problem. — Japan Sorcerer Elites (Regarding the Search for Yuji Itadori)

It’s clear to fans that Megumi’s death is what deeply affected Yuji, considering their close bond as best friends and soulmates.

Ultimately, Yuji will make it to the afterlife. It seems likely he’ll die fighting Dabura, which will let him honor his grandfather’s last wish and find peace.

The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is currently being published in Weekly Shonen Jump.
