After 5 Years, Oda Finally Reveals A New Haki User In The Straw Hat Pirates

This article contains spoilers from the One Piece series.

Haki is a crucial power in the world of One Piece. It’s a spiritual ability that significantly increases a person’s strength, both in defense and attack. Most of the strongest characters in One Piece possess Haki. However, it’s surprising that not all members of the Straw Hat Pirates have it. So far, the author, Oda, has only shown four Straw Hats who can use Haki, while the rest haven’t even learned the basics.

It appears Eiichiro Oda subtly revealed another member of the Straw Hat Pirates who can use Haki during the Egghead arc of One Piece. Franky was shown using Armament Haki near the end, but interestingly, he doesn’t seem to realize he did! This suggests that during the upcoming Elbaf arc, he’ll likely learn to consciously control and develop his Haki abilities.

Franky Could’ve Awakened Armament Haki Subconsciously In Egghead

The Egghead arc of One Piece wasn’t known for its large-scale battles, but it did feature a confrontation between Luffy and members of the Five Elders. Specifically, his fight with Mars stood out. Knowing he couldn’t overcome Mars’s apparent immortality, Luffy cleverly asked Sanji, Bonney, and Franky to combine their abilities and create a powerful attack. He then redirected this attack specifically at Mars.

Luffy, Haki is a power that everyone possesses, though it lies hidden within. It’s the ability to sense the energy of others and even overpower them, but most people never unlock it. True strength comes from unwavering belief. Now, let me show you. Haki generally manifests in two different forms. – Silvers Rayleigh to Luffy in Ruskaina

When all three fighters combined their abilities, Luffy understandably felt a lot of pain. Interestingly, Luffy pointed out that they were all using Haki, a powerful energy. Fans will recall that Bonney specifically used Armament Haki when she struck Luffy.

Sanji’s Ifrit Jambe was clearly enhanced with Haki. Franky appeared to be the only one not using it, but Luffy confirmed everyone was, and it was visibly taking a toll on him.

Franky’s presence didn’t seem to have a purpose without Haki, suggesting he may have subconsciously used it during this moment. This implies he’ll likely develop and fully awaken his Haki abilities in the future.

Luffy States Franky Used Haki On Him

Many fans consider Franky to be among the most powerful members of the Straw Hat Pirates. He proved his strength by defeating Sasaki in the Wano Country Arc, a skilled fighter who could use both Armament and Observation Haki. Because Franky was able to overcome such a strong Haki user, it’s likely he also possesses Haki at this point in the story. The author, Oda, has hinted at this possibility, and it’s something fans should watch for as the story continues.

Hey everyone, these things are really durable – you can tear them up or smash them all you want without damaging them. I need you to attack me with everything you’ve got! Do it quickly, while I’m holding him. But be careful, your Haki really stings!

Like Zoro, Franky likely doesn’t realize he has a strong form of Haki. Zoro initially didn’t know he had Conqueror’s Haki, and it showed up unintentionally without him being able to control it. Franky’s situation could be similar.

Franky’s situation is potentially similar – he doesn’t seem to realize he’s already used Haki a few times, suggesting he’s likely to fully unlock this ability soon. This awakening might happen during the Elbaf arc in One Piece.

Franky’s Full Haki Awakening Could Come In Elbaf

Currently, Franky doesn’t appear to be involved in any fights in Elbaf. Interestingly, unlike most of the Straw Hat crew—excluding Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, as well as Chopper—he isn’t injured or out of commission. We last saw him with Ripley before the Elbaf flashback started, suggesting he’s healthy and available to fight if needed.

I’m so hyped for what’s coming up! When the Straw Hats inevitably clash with the Holy Knights and the rest of the Domi Reversed Army, I really think Franky is going to be a total game-changer. It feels like Egghead was just the beginning – he’s finally starting to unlock his Armament Haki, and I can’t wait to see him master it in the battles to come. It’s going to be incredible!

Once Franky masters Haki, his strength will likely increase dramatically, potentially allowing him to battle powerful opponents like the top commanders of the Yonko in the world of One Piece.
