Incredible Steam horror RPG is one of the best games of the year

The unique and captivating horror RPG, , is a standout new game on Steam, but unfortunately, it’s not currently available for console players. Developed by Francis Coulombe and published by Devolver Digital, the game launched on Steam earlier this year and has been very well-received by players.

Since its release on Steam, Look Outside has received extremely positive feedback from players, earning an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating. Critics also love the game, giving it an 84 on OpenCritic and an 83 on Metacritic. Players on Metacritic have given it an impressive score of 8.9, making it one of the highest-rated games of the year. Overall, Look Outside is easily one of the best RPGs released this year, though surprisingly, it’s currently only available on PC and not on PlayStation or Xbox.

Currently, the game Look Outside is only available on Steam, and there are no announcements about releasing it on PlayStation or Xbox. This is unfortunate, as Look Outside offers a truly unique experience that many more people should have the chance to enjoy.

Look Outside is a Brilliant Blend of Survival-Horror and RPG

It’s hard to say exactly what’s going on in Look Outside without spoiling the surprises, but the game centers around a terrifying event that’s turning people into monsters. You play as someone trapped in an apartment building, desperately trying to survive as things get more dangerous with each passing moment – and time is running out.

With so many medieval and fantasy RPGs available, Look Outside offers a unique experience. Unlike those games, it’s set in the present day and uses a first-person, turn-based combat system. Players have to improvise, using everyday objects found in their apartment building to fight off terrifying creatures. You earn experience points by defeating monsters, just like in other turn-based RPGs, but Look Outside also lets you improve your character by doing normal things like playing video games, showering, surfing the web, and even brushing your teeth!

I tested Look Outside on the ROG Xbox Ally X and it ran flawlessly. From what I’ve seen in Steam reviews, it also seems to perform well on the Steam Deck.

In Look Outside, your decisions really matter. You can choose to fight characters you don’t trust, or try to trade with them – how you interact with people is up to you. This focus on player choice makes Look Outside highly replayable, offering a lot of value for its $9.99 price tag.

The Survival-Horror Factor

Even if you don’t usually enjoy turn-based RPGs, Look Outside might still grab your attention if you’re a fan of survival-horror. The game’s apartment building feels a lot like the original Resident Evil mansion – you’ll explore, search for important items, and solve puzzles. You’ll also need to carefully manage your limited inventory and decide when to fight monsters and when to sneak past them. In fact, it’s one of the best survival-horror games released this year, and it’s also a top-notch RPG.

Look Outside blends survival horror and RPG elements into a captivating game with a strong story, witty writing, and a mix of humor and frightening moments. It’s a genuinely original experience, and highly recommended for fans of RPGs, horror, or both. Hopefully, it will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles soon so more players can enjoy it.
