Quentin Tarantino Explains Why Kill Bill 3 Is Not Possible

As a gamer with a soft spot for action-packed movies like Kill Bill, I find myself disappointed but accepting of the reality that we won’t be seeing another installment in the franchise. Having grown up watching Tarantino’s masterpieces, his unique style and knack for storytelling have left an indelible mark on my cinematic journey.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the third installment of the Kill Bill series, but unfortunately, it seems like my hopes are dashed. Quentin Tarantino, the mastermind behind the first two movies, has confirmed that there won’t be a third one. It’s been two decades since the sequel dropped, and it’s high time we moved on from anticipating another chapter in this epic saga.

On October 10, 2003, the first part of “Kill Bill” was unveiled in theaters. Exactly six months later, on April 8, 2004, its sequel, “Kill Bill: Volume 2,” followed suit. The action-thriller movie has remained popular, and even twenty years later, fans are hopeful for a “Kill Bill 3.” Unfortunately, it seems highly improbable that another film will be produced in the series, as suggested by Tarantino.

Quentin Tarantino, renowned for directing Kill Bill, recently chatted with Bill Maher on the Club Random Podcast. They discussed various films, and Tarantino praised Toy Story 3 as exceptional, claiming it was the perfect conclusion to the series. However, two more movies followed after it. He expressed that Toy Story 3 was simply magnificent, one of the best movies he had ever seen, and if you’ve watched the other two, then it’s heart-wrenching. He mentioned that Disney released a fourth movie some years later, but Tarantino had no intention of watching it because he felt the third installment was the ideal ending, and filmmakers should wrap up stories as beautifully as they can. Regarding Toy Story 4, he said, “I don’t care if it’s good. I’m done. It can still be good, but I’m done.” When asked about a potential Kill Bill 3, Tarantino chuckled and implied the answer was yes by saying, “Yeah,” before adding, “I did. I killed Bill.”

Previously, Tarantino had dismissed the prospect of a Kill Bill 3. Last year, whispers circulated suggesting he was developing the movie, fueling excitement among fans who imagined Uma Thurman reprising her role and sharing screen time with her daughter Maya Hawke. However, the director refuted the claims that he was working on the third chapter of the martial arts film, stating to DeMorgen, “I don’t see that… My last film is about a film critic, a male critic, and it takes place in the 70s.” Similarly, Thurman addressed the subject of Kill Bill: Volume 3 during her interview on The Jess Cagle Show in 2022. She revealed that discussions about a third film had occurred and were even contemplated, but those conversations took place long ago, leaving no fresh updates to share.

People are eager for another installment of the “Kill Bill” series because Quentin Tarantino did an exceptional job with the first two films. His use of visual effects, dialogue, and action sequences was so captivating that viewers can’t get enough. Moreover, there are unresolved storylines that could be developed for a potential sequel. For example, the daughter of Vernita Green saw The Bride kill her mother, setting up an exciting revenge storyline for the next film. Furthermore, the “Kill Bill” series has gained cult-classic status, and fans are eager to revisit the world of The Bride. A third movie would allow us to delve deeper into the lives of our favorite characters.

In essence, Tarantino was correct when he stated that there was nothing to anticipate in Kill Bill 3, as Bill had passed away. Beatrix Kiddo (Thurman) encountered Bill (David Carradine) again in the sequel, where they discussed their estrangement. She explained that she departed from the Deadly Vipers when she realized she was pregnant and wished to provide a better future for her child. He issued a death sentence upon learning she was alive and was betrothed to another man he believed to be the father of their daughter, B.B. They had a confrontation, and she used the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique against him, resulting in his demise. With Bill already deceased, there’s no reason for Kill Bill 3 to exist anymore.

Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 are available on Amazon Prime Video.
