7 Anime Series Better Than Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen is a hugely popular anime and manga series right now. It first gained widespread attention in 2020 with its initial anime season, and it’s become even more popular than anyone predicted.

Jujutsu Kaisen is incredibly popular right now, but it’s not necessarily the best anime out there. While it’s a high-quality show, many newer and older series have better action sequences and more compelling stories.

One Piece

One Piece is a hugely popular and well-loved series enjoyed by fans worldwide. It tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to find the legendary treasure, One Piece, and has been running successfully for over 28 years with no end in sight.

Compared to Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece really stands out with its complex story, well-developed characters, and incredibly detailed world. While One Piece doesn’t always have the most action-packed fights, it more than makes up for it with everything else it offers.

Naruto

The anime series Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are widely considered to be among the greatest ever made. Naruto tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young orphan who trains to become a powerful ninja and ultimately achieve his dream of becoming the leader of his village, known as the Hokage.

Jujutsu Kaisen definitely draws a lot of inspiration from Naruto. The main characters – Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, and Gojo – feel very similar to Naruto’s Team 7. Plus, Naruto is known for having some incredibly well-done action sequences, even better than some of the fights in Jujutsu Kaisen. When it comes to the story as a whole, many fans consider Naruto to be stronger.

Hunter X Hunter

I’m a huge fan of shonen anime, and when you talk about the best, Hunter X Hunter always comes up. Honestly, Togashi’s work is just groundbreaking – so many creators, like Gege Akutami, have been influenced by him! The story centers around Gon Freecss, and it’s all about his journey to find his dad, who was this incredibly famous Hunter that disappeared years ago. It’s a really compelling quest!

Jujutsu Kaisen has a well-regarded power system, but Hunter x Hunter’s is significantly more effective. While the cursed techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen are complex and well-developed, they don’t quite measure up to the Nen system in Hunter x Hunter. Togashi has crafted a truly exceptional power system, and it’s clear in the series.

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is arguably the most famous superhero anime ever made. The story centers on Izuku Midoriya, who gains a powerful ability after being born without one. For years, fans have followed his inspiring journey to become a top Hero.

While Jujutsu Kaisen quickly introduced its world and characters, My Hero Academia took a more gradual approach to developing its characters’ backstories. Many characters in JJK, including some of the main ones, felt underdeveloped compared to the more detailed and complex storytelling in My Hero Academia.

Demon Slayer

Many fans currently consider Demon Slayer to be the most popular anime. While it launched around the same time as Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer is currently more successful.

I’ve noticed that Demon Slayer actually has a pretty straightforward plot. It follows Tanjiro after a terrible tragedy – his family is killed by a demon, and his sister is turned into one herself. But even though the story isn’t overly complex, it’s incredibly engaging. It’s become a massive hit, selling more copies than many other manga and becoming a really popular anime too.

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan has become a truly iconic anime in recent years. Similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, a big part of its popularity is due to its intense and often shocking violence. The show is known for not holding back, and any character, no matter how important, could die at any moment.

Attack on Titan is known for its thrilling action, largely thanks to the terrifying Titans – enormous creatures that devour humans. While curses also play a role, they don’t pose the same level of immediate danger. Beyond the action, the series boasts a complex and engaging story with memorable characters like Eren, Levi, Erwin, Zeke, and Historia.

This series has a more compelling story than the other one, and it keeps things interesting with more than just fighting.

Bleach

Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK), has repeatedly mentioned Bleach as a major influence on his work. In fact, he’s stated that Jujutsu Kaisen wouldn’t exist as it does today without Bleach. Key elements like Domain Expansions were directly inspired by the Bankai techniques from Bleach, and the series would have lost much of its unique identity without that influence.

Ichigo’s story is undeniably one of the most important and best anime series from the 2000s.
