Are ARC Raiders’ Bonus Expedition Skill Points Even Worth the Cost?

Embark recently revealed the specific rewards players will earn by sending their Raider on Expeditions in ARC Raiders. While it’s good to finally know what to expect, the news wasn’t entirely positive. The first Expedition has been delayed by a few days, which was disappointing since I was eager to experience the new Raider with the promised benefits. However, I was especially disheartened to learn how much value my current stash needs to have to maximize the skill point bonuses for my next character.

In ARC Raiders, sending your Raider on an Expedition earns you bonus skill points for your next character – up to a maximum of 5. These points are based on the total value of items you’ve collected and the Coins you have. Until recently, it wasn’t clear how much value you needed to get the full bonus. Honestly, I almost wish I hadn’t found out! It turns out you need a net worth of 5,000,000 Coins to maximize those skill points. My first thought was to just play more and earn enough, but now I’m questioning whether the effort is really worth it.

Every Bonus Offered by ARC Raiders’ Expedition Wipe

Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot of players say that the Expeditions in ARC Raiders just aren’t worth it. It takes so many resources to get ready, and a lot of us feel like the rewards don’t really match the grind, especially those skill points. That said, if you’re planning on playing for a long time and really building up your character, there are definitely some perks that might make it worth pushing through.

Players who finish their first Expedition in ARC Raiders will permanently receive these bonus rewards.

Permanent Unlocks:

  • The Patchwork Raider outfit
  • Scrappy Janitor Cap
  • Expeditions Indicator icon
  • Skill points (depending on Stash value)
  • +12 Stash space

Temporary Buffs:

  • 10% repair buff
  • 5% xp boost
  • 6% more materials from Scrappy

Any permanent rewards will stay with your account forever. Temporary boosts, however, will disappear if you don’t continue with the next adventure. If you do continue, these boosts will stack for the following three adventures, but there seems to be a limit to how high they can go until you stop continuing. I’m happy we finally know how all of this works, but I wish the details about the extra skill points hadn’t been revealed – it’s a bit disappointing.

Here’s a Breakdown of What Players Will Need if They Want All Five Bonus Expedition Points in ARC Raiders

The recent blog post details that each bonus skill point in ARC Raiders Expeditions costs 1,000,000 Coins. You can pay with Coins you’ve already earned in the game or purchase them. While 1,000,000 Coins seems like a lot, it doesn’t feel entirely unreasonable, especially for dedicated players who have likely accumulated a large amount of in-game currency. However, considering the effort and time needed to earn that much, or even the 5,000,000 needed for multiple upgrades, it’s important to carefully consider if the cost is worth it.

While ARC Raiders has many valuable items, collecting enough to maximize bonus skill points from Expeditions is a huge undertaking. Even with a lot of valuable loot, you’ll fall far short of the 5,000,000 Coins needed. Considering limited storage and the number of rounds required to earn that much, the effort needed to get those extra skill points feels discouraging.

Here are the most valuable items in ARC Raiders:

  • Snap Hook — 14,000
  • Queen Reactor — 13,000
  • Matriarch Reactor — 13,000
  • Lance’s Mixtape (5th Edition) — 10,000
  • Kinetic Converter — 7,000
  • Anvil Splitter — 7,000
  • Breathtaking Snow Globe — 7,000
  • Horizontal Grip — 7,000
  • Silencer III — 7,000

Even focusing solely on getting the most valuable item in ARC Raiders, the Snap Hook, to earn enough for all five bonus skill points would require players to collect a massive 357 of them. These aren’t easy to find, though. Alternatively, players could try collecting Breathtaking Snow Globes. While they can be found by looting houses, they’re also rare, and you’d need a staggering 714 just to reach the 5,000,000 needed. Seeing those numbers made me question whether I should even bother trying to gather resources before the first Expedition launches on December 22nd.

ARC Raiders’ Bonus Expedition Skill Points Might Not Be Worth It (For Now)

Honestly, after playing ARC Raiders for a while, I’m pretty sure those bonus Expedition skill points just aren’t worth the effort. I might try for one, but grinding to get my stash up to 2,000,000 feels like way too much work. That said, I’m not totally set in stone on that opinion. I have a feeling Embark won’t keep things this way for long. It just feels like you have to spend so much to get something so small, and stash space is already tight. Plus, even the best items don’t feel that amazing compared to the cost!

The 5% experience boost from the Expedition will help make up for the missing skill points, although it won’t completely solve the problem. It’s good to know I’ll earn even more experience each round, especially since it’s already pretty easy to do. If I continue to loot everything and destroy machines in ARC Raiders, I should be able to manage without those extra skill points.
