The popular mobile game regularly hosts various events, featuring different Pokemon and ranging from large seasonal celebrations to focused spotlights on individual species. Monthly Community Days are a consistent highlight, increasing the frequency of specific Pokemon appearing in the game, while Raid Days and Max Battle events challenge players with powerful creatures. However, the limited timeframe for Community Day events has become a frustration for many.
Although Pokemon GO‘s Community Day events are called “Day”, they actually only last for a few hours. Typically, these events run from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. local time. This short window can be challenging for players, as work, family, or other commitments often make it hard to participate. Some fans believe the event should be extended to better match its name.
Pokemon GO Fans Want A Big Change to Community Days
A player on the Pokemon GO subreddit, Entire_Pineapple4732, shared their frustration with the limited time frame of Pokemon GO Community Days. They explained that the events often happen at inconvenient times, conflicting with work or family plans. The player suggests Niantic extend Community Days to run longer – perhaps from 6:00 A.M. to midnight – to make them more accessible.
Many Pokémon GO players loved the idea of changing when Community Day events happen. A lot of people commented that they couldn’t join because of work, especially those working nights. The darker, earlier evenings during winter also kept some players home. This wouldn’t be the first time Pokémon GO adjusted Community Day – they’ve made changes before.

Although some players have recently criticized the short length of Pokemon GO‘s Community Days, they weren’t always this brief. Before April 2022, these events typically lasted six hours, usually from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. local time, throughout 2020 and 2021. The change in event duration originally happened because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as travel restrictions and limits on gatherings made it difficult for many players to go outside and play.

This year’s December event spanned two days, December 7th and 8th, and offered increased chances of finding 12 different Pokemon. The first day featured Pokemon like Fuecoco, Sprigatito, Pawmi, Vanillite, and Karrablast, while the second day included Quaxly, Flabebe, and Pikipek. The event concluded with special appearances of Machop, Eevee, Totodile, and Ralts during the final ten minutes. Many players would appreciate it if Pokemon GO extended the event hours in the future, giving even more people a chance to participate.
