Ripple CTO Calms XRP Community Amid Ethereum Fears

As a seasoned researcher with over two decades of experience in the cryptocurrency market, I have witnessed the ebb and flow of various projects, and Ripple is no exception. The recent move by Ripple to support RLUSD on the Ethereum blockchain has indeed left many within the XRP community perplexed, and understandably so.

As a crypto investor, I find myself grappling with many uncertainties following Ripple‘s latest decisions, sparking intense discussions within the XRP community about their long-term game plan. One of the key topics causing a stir is Ripple’s shift towards endorsing RLUSD on the Ethereum blockchain, leaving me and many others questioning the company’s future direction.

What prompted this change, and why does it seem to move away from the XRP Ledger (XRPL)?

A recent posting from a member within the XRP community highlights some apprehensions. This piece discusses anxieties regarding potential pre-Initial Public Offering (IPO) stock repurchases, strategies for increasing liquidity on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), and Ripple’s course as it maneuvers through this intricate landscape.

In this post, the peculiar nature of Ripple’s $1.4 billion pre-IPO buyback raises questions about the timing and intentions behind such a move. They also inquire as to why the company might deviate from Ethereum if their focus had been so tightly bound to the XRPL.

This is significant, especially for those who have viewed XRP as an essential component in Ripple’s business activities.

In my opinion, it would be more favorable for us to employ XRP during XRPL instead of RLUSD, but I suspect that I believe we’— David “JoelKatz” Schwartz (@JoelKatz) September 4, 2024

Even so, there is still some unease in the community. Schwartz said he prefers XRP on the XRPL over RLUSD because it avoids centralized exchanges and cuts costs. But it seems that, even though Ripple is supporting Ethereum in this case, the XRPL is still central to the company’s vision.
