The director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has shared that Cloud’s famous Buster Sword was nearly redesigned to be more realistic.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, recently shared updates on Part 3. He says the game is essentially finished and they’ve settled on two potential titles. He also discussed some of the considerations the team had while designing the iconic Buster Sword for the Remake.
Buster Sword Was Just a Regular Sword “Players Wouldn’t Accept It”
In a recent YouTube interview with Julien Chièze (reported by GamesRadar+), Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi discussed the famous Buster Sword. This oversized weapon, used by Cloud Strife, prompted debate among developers about how realistic it would look for him to wield such a large sword with only one hand. They worried it might not feel believable.
The development team initially thought about redesigning Cloud’s Buster Sword in Final Fantasy 7 Remake to make it more realistic. However, they ultimately decided against it, fearing that changing such an iconic weapon would disappoint fans. Hamaguchi explained that they chose to stay true to the original design, and he believes this was the correct decision, as it allowed a new generation of players to appreciate the sword as well.
The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade takes up nearly 100GB of storage space. Also, the developers at Final Fantasy 7 Remake are thinking about creating a complete version of the game after the third part is released.
