Bungie recently released Update 9.5.0.1 for Destiny 2 and its new Renegades expansion. This update fixes bugs and issues, tweaks gear, and includes a feature players asked for. While the Star Wars-themed expansion has been popular, it hasn’t brought back as many players to the game as Bungie expected.
After some disappointment with the Edge of Fate expansion, Destiny 2 players seem much happier with the new Renegades update. While itâs not flawless, the expansion has been well-received, largely due to its Star Warsinspired elements, fresh weapons and armor, and the engaging new Lawless Frontier gameplayâwhich shares similarities with games like Helldivers 2*. Bungie is continuing to improve the game, with a significant update released on December 9th.
With the latest update to Destiny 2, Bungie is giving players a clear look at what’s new through detailed patch notes. A key addition is the Vanguard Alerts system, designed to recapture the excitement of the weekly Nightfall missions. Instead of checking the Portal, players can now find these rotating weekly missionsâcovering activities like Crucible, Grandmaster Nightfalls, Fireteam Ops, Arena, and endgame content like the Desert Perpetual Raid and the upcoming Equilibrium Dungeonâin the Seasonal Hub.
This update also includes significant changes to the Lawless Frontier activity and its Invasion mechanic. Just like in Gambit, one player can enter another playerâs Lawless Frontier mission to try and defeat them and earn a red Praxic Blade crystal. Players who invade found it was too easy to win against the Imperium Behemoth, so this update makes the Behemoth about 35% more vulnerable to enemy player Supers â especially those using Stasis and Strand.
After the big improvements to player classes in the recent Renegades update for Destiny 2, Bungie is releasing another patch with a few more fixes. This update ensures that standing behind a Sentinel Shieldâs Banner will now properly reload your weapons. It also corrects an audio issue where the shieldâs detonation sound wasnât always playing correctly. For Stasis hunters, using Shatterdive will now consistently grant Frost Armor, even if you bump into something during the dive.
Image via Bungie Although many players will likely appreciate the recent updates, some in the Destiny 2 community are unhappy with the larger changes. Previously, players could earn a significant amount of XP and Bright Dust through the Pathfinder and weekly challenge system, which helped them advance their Season Pass, even if they started playing later in the season. This has been replaced by a new Orders system, which fans feel offers less XP and Bright Dust each week, slowing down Season Pass progress. Itâs currently unclear whether Bungie will make any changes to address these concerns, or if they are satisfied with the current implementation.
