How to Use The Catch Window in Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

Pokémon Legends: Z-A recently added the Mega Dimension DLC, but some of the game’s instructions – specifically those telling players how to ‘use the catch window’ – might be a little unclear.

As a Pokémon fan, I’m so hyped for the Mega Dimension DLC in Pokémon Legends: Z-A! It’s bringing back a ton of Pokémon I love, and even better, it’s introducing new Mega Evolutions! To explore this cool new area called Hyperspace Lumiose, you have to earn points by doing research tasks for a character named Corbeau, who’s part of this group called the Rust Syndicate. It sounds like a really interesting way to unlock more of the game!

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you’ll sometimes encounter random tasks within distortion zones, and one of these involves using a ‘catch window.’ TopMob has a detailed guide explaining exactly how this works.

How to Use The Catch Window in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the ‘catch window’ is the brief moment after you’ve weakened a wild Pokémon where you can actually throw a Poké Ball and try to catch it.

So, the catch window’s been in Legends: Z-A since the start, but honestly, I didn’t really pay much attention to it until the Mega Dimension DLC dropped. That’s when the Research Tasks really made it stand out! Now, when I’m exploring the new areas, I’m constantly being asked to catch Pokémon using that special catch window. It’s become a big part of the DLC experience, for sure.

This guide explains how to use the Catch Window in Pokémon Legends: Z-A to finish Research Tasks while exploring Hyperspace Lumiose.

  1. Summon a Pokémon from your party to attack the target wild Pokémon.
  2. Use attacks repeatedly until the health of the wild Pokémon reaches zero.
  3. The catch window is triggered when a wild Pokémon is knocked out, indicated by stars circling their heads.
  4. Select a Pokéball to throw at the knocked-out Pokémon, taking note of the colored arrows that indicate the likelihood of a successful catch.
  5. Throw your selected Pokéball.

As a Pokémon trainer, I’ve learned it’s way different trying to catch a Pokémon that’s still got energy! When a Pokémon is knocked out and you get that catch window, you only get one shot. So, picking the right Poké Ball is super important – you can’t afford to mess it up!

Ultra Balls are always a good choice, and by now you should have enough money to buy plenty. If you’re still short, Phillippe at the Rust Syndicate in the Mega Dimension DLC can sell you some as you progress through the content.
