As a seasoned Stardew Valley player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the Mermaid on Ginger Island has become one of my most cherished challenges! Just like a tantalizing treasure hunt, she offers another enchanting musical puzzle that tests both your wit and patience.
Similarly to when you arrive at Ginger Island, the Mermaid presents another melodious challenge for you. If you manage to solve this puzzle, you will be rewarded with 5 special tokens, which can be utilized to access additional sections and rewards on the island.
To visit her, you’ll need to first collect the 50 Golden Walnuts required to unlock her location on the southeast shore.

Cleaning up the Beach Resort involves removing trash on the eastern part of the premises. Stepping out of sight, you’ll come across a star-shaped beach featuring the Mermaid’s Rock and the Pirate Cove.
Where Is The Mermaid On Ginger Island?
Drop by at this beach when it’s raining, and you’ll spot the Mermaid lounging on a rock to the south-east. Following the same pattern, play her tune to crack the enigma.
As a huge fan, I must admit that I’m not exactly brimming with new ideas right now, but given her hectic schedule, I can understand. Nevertheless, there seem to be two tiny snags this time around:
- She won’t play the song for you
- Nothing on the beach makes music
If you can play her song anyway, the Mermaid rewards you with 5 Golden Walnuts.
Building Flute Blocks
To make her song play, you’ll require five specific sound-emitting blocks. As you approach any of these blocks, it will emit a previously set tone.

Once you accumulate six Friendship Points with her, drop by her home. Visiting her home initiates a scene where she will reward you with the Flute Block and some new recipes.
Play The Mermaid’s Song
To make the Mermaid’s tune resound, please place your Flute Blocks next to every small stack of pebbles scattered on the southern coastline’s sandy edge. These pebble piles serve as the secret clues for solving this riddle.
Every time you set aside a Flute Block, its starting note is 1. Whenever you press a Flute Block, its pitch increases by 1.
If you’re extremely meticulous, you could solve the puzzle with a single Flute Block, splitting it after every note is sounded. By this point in ‘Stardew Valley’, however, constructing all five blocks might be less challenging overall.
The arrangement of stones in these piles indicates the appropriate pitch for each Flute Block. A small stone equals one step, and a large stone represents five steps. For instance, if the initial stack holds two smaller stones, then the suitable tone is 2, which requires just one adjustment.
To avoid making an easy mistake, decrease your activations of the Flute Blocks by one compared to the stones’ codes. In other words, if the stones show a certain number, press the Flute Blocks that many times minus one.
