It’s The End Of An Era For Sung Jinwoo In Solo Leveling

This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling series.

A key characteristic of Sung Jinwoo, the main character in Solo Leveling, is his limitless potential for growth. He consistently becomes stronger, and this is central to his story. Throughout the series, Jinwoo repeatedly overcomes opponents who are more powerful than him, eventually reaching a point where almost no one can defeat him.

The sequel, Solo Leveling Ragnarok, has shaken things up for Sung Jinwoo. He’s no longer the only Hunter capable of growing stronger – his son, Sung Suho, can level up too. Surprisingly, Suho isn’t keeping this power to himself; he’s enabling others to level up as well. This means Jinwoo, for the first time in a long time, isn’t unique, and has lost a key part of what made him special.

Sung Jinwoo Is Not The Only Hunter That Can Level Up Anymore

Though many fans hoped Solo Leveling Ragnarok would be the official continuation of the popular manhwa series, the author has confirmed that it won’t be considered a true sequel.

Ragnarok was created as a treat for fans of the series. I wanted to see how a different writer would approach the world of Solo Leveling. While it takes place in the same universe, it doesn’t follow the main storyline directly. Think of it as an alternate take on the events, similar to the different universes you see in Marvel stories. I’m also thinking about potentially writing a sequel myself. — Chugong

Chugong has explained that Solo Leveling Ragnarok takes place in a separate universe from the original story. This means the original Solo Leveling doesn’t have a direct sequel; Ragnarok is a new take on the world. Currently, it’s the only continuation of the Solo Leveling universe, and it follows Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho. Like his father, Suho is exceptionally strong and has the ability to level up, but he shares this power with others.

Sung Suho’s Shadow Creation Allows Other Hunters To Level Up

He’s found a way to help his friends get stronger, but it diminishes what makes the main character, Jinwoo, unique. Using his ability to create shadows, Suho can craft shadow weapons and give them to his friends. These weapons gain levels, allowing those around him to become more powerful even though they aren’t actually leveling up themselves.

I represent everything you’ve fought through – the proof of your strength and the peace you’ve earned through hardship. I am death, but also the end of pain and the ultimate fear.

This means anyone fighting with Suho in Solo Leveling can now officially become stronger, which is a big deal for the story. Chapter 62 of the Solo Leveling Ragnarok manhwa revealed this change, and fans are excited because they’ve been wanting to see more development for characters beyond just the main hero.

Solo Leveling Has Been Changed For The Better In Ragnarok

Some fans are disappointed with this recent change in Solo Leveling, feeling it diminishes Jinwoo’s uniqueness. However, it’s important to remember that while others can gain power through weapons, what Jinwoo is capable of is on a different level entirely. He remains the most powerful being in the Solo Leveling universe – a true God – and far surpasses everyone else, including his son, Suho.

Essentially, Jinwoo hasn’t lost anything. This new ability simply gives other Hunters a chance to grow stronger and develop their own stories, keeping them actively involved instead of just watching from the sidelines.

Fans are really pleased with this move by Daul, as it helps develop the supporting characters, something Solo Leveling has been criticized for lacking. This change offers a chance to give those characters more depth and personality.

Jinwoo’s unique ability to grow stronger with each fight is no longer exclusive to him, potentially marking a shift in the story. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it’s likely a positive development for the series, and most fans appear to be welcoming the change.

There are currently 25 episodes of Solo Leveling available – 12 from the first season and 13 from the second. You can watch both seasons on Crunchyroll. As of now, there haven’t been any official announcements about a third season, but fans can continue to enjoy the story through the original Solo Leveling Manhwa.
