In 1996, Culex was formidable in his original form, surrounded by five elemental crystals that made him nearly invincible with his unblockable attacks and towering health pool. Even in this remake for the Switch, he’s been taken to a new level, appearing in stunning 3D and unleashing devastating immediate attacks that left my party members hanging on by a thread with just 1 HP remaining. With all those tricks up his sleeve, it’s no wonder I consider Culex one of the toughest Nintendo boss fights to date.
