Xbox Developer Direct in January Promises To Be Huge

Xbox announced that their next Developer Direct, happening in January 2026, will be a major event. However, they also noted that even with a large presentation, they won’t be able to showcase everything coming to Xbox over the next year.

The Xbox team recently hinted at a fantastic 2026, promising major game releases and plans to celebrate significant anniversaries in the coming years.

Next Xbox Developer Direct is Coming Soon

Xbox’s Matt Booty recently told Variety about an upcoming Xbox Developer Direct showcase, which is happening in a few weeks.

Okay, so I can’t spill all the details yet, but trust me, we’re packing a ton of new content into next year. Usually, our Dev Direct show is where we reveal what’s coming up, but honestly, we’ve got so much planned that it just won’t all fit into one presentation! It’s a good problem to have, though!

We’re excited to announce that Playground Games will be featured in the upcoming Dev Direct. We have so much planned for next year that we won’t be able to show it all at the January Dev Direct – and that’s a great problem to have!

He went on to talk about all the good things happening for Team Green through 2026:

We’re expecting a fantastic year ahead. It’s Xbox’s 25th anniversary, and several of our popular game franchises are also celebrating major milestones, like ten-year anniversaries.

This year marks significant anniversaries for several major gaming brands – Bethesda is celebrating its 40th, and Blizzard, its 35th. It’s also been 30 years since the original ‘Diablo’ was released. We recently announced the ‘Halo Remastered’ collection, and we have more exciting announcements coming soon about games launching next year. Overall, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic year for our brands and our most popular franchises.

Booty also commented on the upcoming Call of Duty movie, praising Taylor Sheridan as an excellent choice for the screenwriter.

Considering his storytelling style and previous writing work, the team believes he understands characters and crafting a compelling story, which aligns with their idea for a ‘Call of Duty’ movie.
