At The Game Awards 2025, a release date for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was revealed: the game will be available on May 29, 2026.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was revealed at Gamescom 2025, and TopMob has a preview you can read here. The developers promised to be at The Game Awards, and they definitely made an impression.

The team behind the new LEGO Batman game thoroughly researched the character’s history by reviewing all Batman movies, TV shows – including classics like Batman: The Animated Series and The Dark Knight trilogy – and countless comic books, with full access to the DC Comics archive. They then identified the most important and memorable moments from those sources, using them as the foundation for the game’s story and design – ultimately creating LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

The game lets you experience Bruce Wayne’s life, starting with his childhood at Wayne Manor and a planned movie night with his parents. It then follows his journey as he trains with the League of Shadows before returning to Gotham City to become Batman. Along the way, you’ll team up with iconic characters like Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl – all of whom you can play as, each with their own unique skills.

Players will battle famous Batman villains like The Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Bane, alongside numerous other enemy groups. A revamped combat system lets you defeat them using a mix of combos, stealth, and detective work. Gotham City feels more alive than ever, filled with crimes to solve, challenges to overcome, rewards to earn, hidden secrets, and recognizable locations like Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals, and Wayne Tower.

Okay, so I just heard the open world in the new LEGO Batman game, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, is actually bigger than Arkham Knight! That’s insane!
