December 13th will be a historic day for WWE, as John Cena will wrestle his final match for the company. Cena has been a major part of WWE since he started in 2002, becoming a dominant force during what’s known as the Ruthless Aggression Era. Throughout his career, he’s won 17 world championships and is widely considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
John Cena has been increasingly focused on acting, and he’s best known recently for playing Peacemaker in both the DC Extended Universe and James Gunn’s new DC Universe. Because he’s been wrestling less frequently in WWE, many fans weren’t entirely surprised when he announced his retirement, even though it was still a big announcement.
John Cena’s final year with WWE was full of surprises, including a switch to the ‘bad guy’ role, winning his 17th world championship, and great matches against wrestlers like AJ Styles and Dominik Mysterio. WWE held a competition to decide who would be Cena’s last opponent, and Gunther won. Gunther and Cena will face off on Saturday Night’s Main Event in what will be John Cena’s final wrestling match, and millions of fans are expected to watch.
How to Watch John Cena’s Last Match
John Cena’s final wrestling match will be available to stream on Peacock this Saturday, December 13th, starting at 8pm Eastern Time. If you don’t have access to WWE content on Peacock in your region, you can watch it on YouTube instead. Keep in mind that a regular Peacock subscription won’t work – you’ll need either Peacock Premium ($10.99 per month) or Premium Plus ($16.99 per month) to watch the event.

Full Saturday Night’s Main Event Card
- Gunther vs. John Cena
- Champion vs. Champion Match: Cody Rhodes (WWE Champion) vs. Oba Femi (NXT Champion)
- Bayley vs. Sol Ruca
- AJ Styles and Dragon Lee vs. Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater
Okay, everyone’s talking about John Cena versus Gunther this Saturday, and rightfully so – it’s a huge match! But honestly, the whole card is stacked. We’ve got Cody Rhodes going up against Oba Femi in a Champion vs. Champion battle, and I’m really excited to see Bayley take on Sol Ruca. Plus, the new team of AJ Styles and Dragon Lee? They’re facing off against Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater, and I’m predicting that match is going to be absolutely incredible – seriously, some of the best high-flying action we’ll see all year!
Okay, so I’m hearing John Cena really pushed for a lot of NXT guys and girls to be featured on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Apparently, with a bigger audience tuning in than normal, it’s a great chance to showcase some of the future stars of WWE and get them in front of as many eyes as possible. I’m all for it – always good to see fresh talent getting a spotlight!
Will John Cena Stay Retired?
It’s unusual for professional wrestlers to stay retired for good. Terry Funk retired multiple times, and many other stars have come back to the ring after saying they were done. John Cena claims he’ll be different and truly never wrestle again after his match with Gunther. Unless something unexpected happens during the event, fans can probably believe him.
Will Gunther Beat John Cena?
Now that John Cena is winding down his wrestling career, a logical move would be to have him lose to Gunther, helping to establish Gunther as a top star. However, many fans would rather see Cena win, for a satisfying and uplifting moment. Alternatively, Gunther could build a pattern of defeating retiring legends, similar to what he did with Goldberg earlier this year. Fans will have to watch Saturday Night’s Main Event on Peacock at 8pm EST to see how it all plays out.
