How to Evolve Hisuian Qwilfish into Overqwil in Pokemon Legends ZA

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Hisuian Qwilfish can evolve into a Dark/Poison-type Pokemon. But evolving it isn’t as simple as leveling up – it requires a unique method different from most Pokemon evolutions.

If you’re trying to catch all the Pokémon in the Legends Z-A DLC’s Mega Dimension, you’ll need to know where to find Hisuian Qwilfish and how to evolve it into Overqwil. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the process.

How to Get Hisuian Qwilfish in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Hisuian Qwilfish Location

In the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, you can find Hisuian Qwilfish in 3-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones that feature Poison and Dark-type Pokemon. Keep an eye out for its unique, quill-shaped outline among the Hyperspace Pokemon, as shown in the image above.

Once you catch Mega Tatsugiri during the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 3 mission, 3-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones will begin to appear around Lumiose City.

If you encounter a Qwilfish in a 2-Star Hyperspace, it’s the standard version, not the Hisuian form. Standard Qwilfish can’t evolve into Overqwil.

Hisuian Qwilfish Evolution Method

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Hisuian Qwilfish can evolve if you use the move Barb Barrage 20 times.

As a big fan of Hisuian Qwilfish, I was so excited to find out it learns Barb Barrage at level 28! That’s great news because most 3-Star Hyperspace Pokemon are around levels 20-23, so you won’t have to grind too much to get this awesome move.

Like how Primeape evolves into Annihilape, Hisuian Qwilfish doesn’t need to use Barb Barrage repeatedly in one battle to evolve. It just needs to use the move a total of 20 times – even practicing on targets that aren’t Pokémon – to trigger its evolution.

Trainers can quickly fulfill these needs by taking their Hisuian Qwilfish to an early-game area and repeatedly using the Barb Barrage move against weaker Pokemon.

Justice Dojo Location

I’ve found a really quick way to level up! You can just practice on the training dummy in the Justice Dojo – using Barb Barrage on it actually counts towards your progress, which is awesome!

You can find Justice Dojo in Juane Sector 2, located east of the main area. The training dummy is right by the entrance, close to the NPCs who handle Seeds of Mastery and Hyper Training.
