Players of the game ARC Raiders are asking the developers, Embark Studios, to quickly fix a bug that’s preventing some from completing the first major quest, called Expedition Project. While not everyone is affected, those who are can’t continue playing, and the quest is set to become unavailable in just a few days.
Similar to other games where you collect loot and fight, ARC Raiders lets you reset your progress, but with a unique twist. Instead of everyone resetting at the same time, you choose when to do it through a feature called the Expedition Project. If you’ve made a lot of progress and want a fresh start, you can build a Caravan and leave the current area, effectively resetting your character. Players who choose to reset will start with a new character and get some helpful bonuses, like more storage space and up to five extra skill points, based on how much they had stored before leaving.
Embark designed the reward system for ARC Raiders to give players options, but initial reactions to the first Expedition have been negative. Players are frustrated because unlocking all available skill points requires a significant investment – 5 million in in-game assets. Many feel this discourages using powerful weapons and gear before the game resets, with some even looking forward to losing their items in the upcoming wipe. As a result, a lot of players are choosing to skip the first Expedition. Adding to the frustration, some players preparing for the wipe have encountered a bug.
ARC Raiders Bug Prevents Players From Completing Expedition
A player on the ARC Raiders subreddit, Mrpityoka77, recently reported a bug that’s stopping them from advancing in the Expedition Project. They’ve completed the first two pages, which require gathering materials to build the Caravan, but there’s no option to continue. Their post has received over 8,000 upvotes and a lot of supportive comments, so the developers at Embark are likely aware of the issue and may release a fix before the Expedition launches next week.
Another player reported being blocked by the same bug, but they’re stuck even earlier in the game – on the very first page. The person who originally reported the problem has contacted Embark several times, and a community manager confirmed they’ve received many similar reports and passed them on to the development team. Players had hoped the latest ARC Raiders update would resolve this, but the update notes don’t mention anything about fixing the Expedition bug.
Embark announced they’re slowing down updates over the holidays, with only one big release planned before the year ends. The ARC Raiders ‘Cold Snap’ update launches December 16th, bringing a new Snowfall Map Condition, the Flickering Flames event, a new Raider Deck, and the start of the first Expedition. Players experiencing a specific issue won’t be able to reset their progress unless a fix is included in next week’s update.
Even if the update on December 16th resolves the issue, players won’t have much time to take advantage of it, as the departure window closes on December 22nd. Hopefully, the developers will offer some kind of compensation to those who were impacted.
