How to Get and Use the Exo-Skiff in No Man's Sky

As a seasoned space voyager and avid No Man’s Sky player with countless hours under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when it comes to the latest Aquarius update! The addition of fishing and the Exo-Skiff has taken this already captivating game to new depths (pun intended).

In the game “No Man’s Sky,” fishing has been introduced through the latest update known as “Aquarius.” This update also includes a comprehensive Expedition, an array of cooking recipes, fish traps, and a new suit for players to don. What’s more, players can now explore various planet biomes in search of over 160 distinct fish varieties, aiming to complete their collection.

As you patiently wait for fish to nibble on your bait from the shore, things could become much more intriguing with the acquisition of an Exo-Skiff. This spacecraft will enable you to fish right in the heart of the ocean, making it essential if you aim to catch the most elusive and gigantic fish in the universe of No Man’s Sky. Today’s tutorial will walk you through the steps for acquiring the Exo-Skiff and provide tips on how to effectively use it.

How to Get the Exo-Skiff in No Man’s Sky

In the game ‘No Man’s Sky’, you can acquire the Exo-Skiff in two different methods. If you have a sufficient number of Nanites, the most convenient option is to take your character to the Space Anomaly and converse with the Multi-tool Vendor there. However, the blueprint for the Exo-Skiff will cost you 90 Nanites. To accumulate this amount, engage in various activities such as exploring caches, defeating Sentinels, or completing missions – just to name a few possibilities.

To join the Aquarius Expedition, you must achieve the Freedom of the Sea milestone in Phase 2. This task is quite straightforward as all you need to do is release one fish from your catches back into the oceans of No Man’s Sky. Upon completion, you’ll receive blueprints for the Exo-Skiff. To construct it, ensure you have these required materials:

  • 120x Magnetised Ferrite: Use a Refiner to convert 2x Pure Ferrite into Magnetised Ferrite.
  • 30x Salt: Found as a secondary material in minerals, as a primary material in underwater minerals, or found in Resource Deposits. You can also use the Refiner to make Salt:
    • 1x Chlorine.
    • 1x Di-hydrogen + 1x Oxygen.
  • 2x Crystal Sulphide: Found next to underwater vents in oceans and lakes.

How to Use and Move the Exo-Skiff in No Man’s Sky

1st thing to remember: You should always prepare by attaching the Exo-Skiff to your Exo-Suit, which can be summoned just like any other water vehicle. Choose a suitable location for deployment, ideally from atop your starship. Once deployed, you’ll find yourself on board. Utilize your preferred fishing rod, such as the Lost Angler’s Rig, to fish in the open sea. You can also use the Cold Storage to preserve your catch of the day.

In No Man’s Sky, it might not be immediately clear how to navigate your Exo-Skiff once you’re on board because interfacing with the screens only changes its color. However, to move it, open your Summon Vehicle options, choose the Exo-Skiff again, and select any spot on the water. The Skiff will then gradually head towards that location. Unfortunately, at this point, there’s no option for manual control of the Exo-Skiff.
