Black Myth: Wukong - How To Find & Beat Monk from the Sea (Hoarfrost Transformation)

As a seasoned adventurer who has traversed countless realms and battled numerous mythical creatures, I can confidently say that the Monk from the Sea in Black Myth: Wukong is one of the most intriguing bosses I’ve encountered yet. This aquatic monk, hidden within the depths of the New Thunderclap Temple, is a formidable foe with his icy tentacles and chilling abilities.

In the third part of “Black Myth: Wukong,” the main character ventures into “The New West.” Having fled from the “Pagoda Realm” and journeyed through the “Valley of Bliss,” players must progress to the concluding region of this chapter.

The Sea Monk is one of the challenging bosses you can encounter once you’ve advanced to the New Thunderclap Temple. This boss inflicts significant damage using his tentacles and often leaves the player frozen. Navigating and attempting to defeat him may puzzle some gamers, so this guide provides comprehensive information on The Sea Monk.

The boss fight is optional, but players must defeat him to
acquire the Transformation

How To Find Monk From The Sea

Initially, make your way to the “New Thunderclap Temple”. Starting from the “Keeper’s Shrine at the Longevity Road in the Valley of Ecstasy”, proceed straight towards the statues and veer right. Continue along this path until you see the temple entrance and a glowing orange object nearby. This is where you’ll find the boss, “Captain Kalpa-Wave”. Defeat it, then enter to locate the Keeper’s Shrine on your left.

Starting at the Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine, take a right and walk along this path. When you encounter an enemy blindfolded and carrying a rock, it is advisable to proceed left up the slope. Upon reaching the top, look for a gate that leads outside. To your left past the gate, there is a stone slab. As you near the slab, expect the Sea Monk to leap from a hole, initiating the boss battle.

How To Beat Monk From The Sea

At the outset of the battle, the boss often initiates with a three-hit combo utilizing both his tentacles. These attacks have a slight delay and may inflict the Chill Bane effect. Additionally, he can strike with his tentacles by flapping them back and forth, causing heavy damage upon impact. If you get too near the front of the boss, he’ll use his chest tentacles to attack, pushing you a short distance away.

One of his attacks to watch out for is when he stands on tentacles, and the cold air swirls around him. When you see this, try to get some distance from the boss as he slams down on the ground. Finally, there is the attack where he hurls a giant snowball at you, followed by smaller snowballs if you get closer to him. These can increase the chances of freezing you very quickly. If you get frozen, mash the dodge button to get out.

In this upcoming battle, you could arm yourself with a Curio that offers a moderate boost to your Chill Resistance. You’ll obtain this item post-fight against Captain Lotus-Vision.
