Persona 3 Reloads Joker Boss is Begging for Another DLC Addition

Persona 3 Reloads Joker Boss is Begging for Another DLC Addition

As a longtime fanatic of the Atlus universe and someone who has spent countless hours navigating the intricate narratives of the Persona series, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment that Yu Narukami isn’t joining Joker in the Challenge Battle DLC for Persona 3 Reload.

As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the conclusion of Persona 3 Reload‘s post-launch content with the release of Episode Aigis – The Answer. This upcoming DLC will give me the chance to delve into the epilogue story that was initially part of Persona 3 FES on the PlayStation 2. I’m thrilled about how this additional content promises to build upon the enhancements made to the original game in Persona 3 Reload.

In the world of gaming, particularly with the popular series Persona and Atlus games, it’s not uncommon to encounter bonus battles against past main characters. These extra fights are often included as downloadable content (DLC) in Atlus titles. For instance, in the Shin Megami Tensei series, we’ve seen Raidou Kuzunoha from Devil Summoner make an appearance in Shin Megami Tensei 3 Remastered, and the Demi-Fiend from that game appears as a DLC boss in both Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Shin Megami Tensei 5. Interestingly, in Persona 5 Royal, the protagonist Joker has a DLC battle, but the main character from Persona 4, Yu Narukami, does not. This discrepancy leaves us puzzled.

Persona 3 Reload’s Episode Aigis DLC Should Also Feature a Persona 4 Protagonist Boss Fight

Persona 4’s Yu Narukami Has Appeared as DLC Boss Before

In the game Persona 5 Royal, it served as a trial run for Downloadable Content (DLC) bosses within the Persona series. Notably, characters from previous games like Makoto Yuki from Persona 3 and Yu Narukami from Persona 4 were added as Challenge Battle DLC options. The Full Moon (Makoto Yuki) boss skillfully recreates the character’s original persona, employing Thanatos, Orpheus, Siegfried, and Attis in battle. On the other hand, it appears that the Joker boss from Persona 3 Reload intends to reciprocate with his use of Arsene and Satanael as his combat personas in the DLC fight.

Yu Narukami deserves to get the same love in P3R that his Foggy Day boss fight gave the character in Persona 5 Royal. This boss fight showcased the versatility of his moveset, with him using Personas like Izanagi, Kohryu, Kaguya, and Izanagi-no-Okami. It’s likely Joker will be a challenging boss in Persona 3 Reload‘s DLC, and the expansion would feel incomplete without a fight that lets the SEES party test their skills against Yu Narukami’s impressive moveset too.

Persona 3 Reload Omitting a Yu Narukami DLC Boss Fight Would Be a Huge Missed Opportunity

In the upcoming DLC for Persona 3 Reload, players will face off against Joker in battle for the first time, but that doesn’t diminish the potential awesomeness of a showdown with Yu Narukami as a boss. The new mechanics like Theurgy and Shift in Persona 3 Reload would make the encounter with Yu Narukami unique, setting it apart from fights against him in Persona 4 or his version in Persona 5 Royal. This potential addition could also offer a chance to display a fresh set of Personas used by Yu Narukami, adding an exciting twist to his boss fight.

Although it’s clear that Joker is a likely choice for a DLC boss fight among Persona fans, Yu Narukami could also be a compelling DLC boss option. With whispers hinting at Atlus preparing a remake of Persona 4, incorporating Yu Narukami into the DLC of Persona 3 Reload would provide an excellent introduction to the character before his role in the upcoming Persona 4 remake. It’s speculated that Yu Narukami may appear as a hidden boss for players within the The Answer DLC of Persona 3 Reload, but the lack of his announcement alongside Joker seems like a missed chance.
