Naruto Uzumaki is the defining character of the Naruto series, and he’ll likely always be remembered that way. While Boruto focuses on his son, Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto remains the most popular character with fans. However, Naruto isn’t currently featured in the series, which many fans miss. His absence creates a significant gap, and now another character needs to rise and take a leading role.

Many fans might expect Boruto Uzumaki to follow in his father’s footsteps, but he’s actually more like Sasuke. The character best suited to become the next Naruto Uzumaki is actually Himawari Uzumaki, as she’s inherited Naruto’s power. Himawari, Naruto’s daughter, is a fan favorite, and even more so now that she possesses the power of Kurama.

I’ve been really fascinated by Himawari Uzumaki in the Boruto series. Everyone seems to agree she’s incredibly strong, and her potential feels limitless. What’s really interesting is that Kurama – the Nine-Tailed Beast – actually said her ability to connect with him and use chakra was better than anything he experienced with Naruto, or any other host, for that matter. That fact alone makes me think she could eventually become even more powerful than her father.

You have no idea what you’re capable of. You’re not like a typical ninja, and you’re even distinct from those who possess the power of the tailed beasts. You’re a human, but in some ways, you remind me of Jura and myself.

Beyond just the current storyline, this development strongly suggests Himawari will become the new central figure, similar to how Naruto was in his series. The Boruto series clearly misses Naruto’s presence, and while Kurama’s return helps fill that void, it’s happening through Himawari’s abilities.

Most fans are happy to see this change! They’ve long hoped for more of Himawari in the Boruto series, and this gives the author a chance to deliver. While learning to fully control Kurama’s power will be a challenge for her, that’s what makes her storyline so compelling.

Himawari Uzumaki Is Even More Special Than Naruto Uzumaki

The story increasingly suggests that Himawari is even more gifted than Naruto was at her age. She has a stronger connection to Kurama’s chakra, meaning she could ultimately be more powerful than Naruto once she fully develops her abilities. Essentially, Himawari is being positioned as a potentially stronger version of her father.

This power is incredible – it should be far stronger than anything he possesses. However, there’s a significant cost. It works by drawing on our life force, and because our chakra is linked, any power created this way also shortens his lifespan when we connect with him. Himawari has a strong connection with Kurama and will likely be able to use all of its chakra. Because of this close bond, it’s even possible she could eventually access the powerful Baryon Mode.

Himawari Might Surpass Naruto Uzumaki In Power

Currently, Naruto Uzumaki at his strongest – using Baryon Mode – is more powerful than anyone else we’ve seen in the Boruto series. However, several characters are expected to become stronger eventually, and that includes his daughter, Himawari. Because Kurama pointed out that Himawari’s connection to him is stronger than any previous host, it’s likely she’ll be able to unlock even more of Kurama’s power than Naruto did.

Furthermore, Kurama and Himawari work together seamlessly, almost as a single entity. This arrangement is clearly intended to help Himawari eventually master Kurama’s power even more completely than Naruto did, and it seems likely she will achieve that in the future.

It’s still unclear how much the author, Kishimoto, will develop this concept and if he’ll continue expanding the supporting characters in Boruto, but things are currently looking promising for fans of Himawari.

Even if Himawari becomes more powerful than Naruto, she’ll never be as famous or important as he is. He’ll always be the most recognizable and beloved character in the series.
