Everything Added in Megabonk’s Spooky Update

Megabonk launched on September 18, 2025, and immediately became popular on Steam. Players quickly became hooked on the game’s engaging gameplay, and many spent dozens of hours playing it within the first few weeks.

Megabonk offers a lot of unlockable characters and weapons, and players were excited to see what the developers at Vedinad would add next. They didn’t have to wait long – a big content update arrived on December 14th. This article details all the important new features included in the ‘Spooky’ update for Megabonk.

New Map

Graveyard Map

Players have consistently requested a new map for Megabonk. When the game launched in September, it only included two maps: Forest and Desert. For the first three months, those were the only options, meaning players spent a lot of time replaying the same areas despite the various challenges and unlockable items available in the game.

The Spooky update introduced a new map called Graveyard. Players need to navigate the Crypt, find four keys hidden within, and then beat Big Bob, a powerful boss who can quickly defeat them, all before time runs out.

New Weapon

Scythe Weapon

Players who’ve been enjoying Megabonk since its release have already collected every weapon. Luckily, the recent Spooky update introduced a new weapon, giving everyone a fresh goal to work towards.

In Megabonk, you get the Scythe by defeating Big Bob in the Graveyard. But be warned – he’s a tough opponent with a lot of health and strong attacks that can quickly knock you out. The Scythe lets you attack enemies in a circular sweep, and it gains a powerful charge attack every time you defeat an Elite Enemy.

New Items

Old Mask, Pumpkin, Bob’s Light, Snek, and Pot (stainless steel)

Megabonk features more than 80 unlockable items, and players initially don’t have access to all of them. Although unlocking everything might take time, players were eager to discover how these items would impact gameplay and the competitive leaderboards.

The Spooky update introduced 5 items to Megabonk. Here is how to unlock them and what they do:

Item How to Unlock Effect
Old Mask Find on Graveyard Increase Elite spawn by +15 percent
Pumpkin As Roberto, break every pumpkin on Graveyard Spawn +6 extra pots for future stages, and increase their reward by 18 percent
Bob’s Light Kill Big Bog on Graveyard using only damage from the lamps A sphere of light explodes every 45 seconds, killing all nearby enemies. Stacks reduce cooldown by 3 seconds and increase radius by 10m
Snek Find in the crypt on Graveyard Apply +4 stacks of poison and get a 5 percent chance to instantly burst all the poison damage when hitting an enemy
Pot (stainless steel) As Bandit, open every chest and pot in the first crypt on Graveyard +10 max level for all weapons and +5 max level for all tomes

New Character

Roberto

When Megabonk first launched, players could choose from 20 different characters to explore just two maps. Each character started with a unique weapon and special ability. The game’s initial theme was spooky, which is why the newest character is a ghost named Roberto. He claims he can float, though developers are still testing to confirm if that’s true.

Roberto begins the game with a Scythe, meaning players must first unlock this weapon before they can play as him. To do so, they’ll need to defeat Spooky Steve, the boss that appears in the Crypt if you can’t escape before time runs out.

In the game Megabonk, players who choose Roberto as their character get a special ability called “Hoarder.” This gives them a free chest every minute and allows them to float just a little bit.

More Achievements
