Fewer Than 0.1% of Escape from Tarkov Players Have Completed The Game

Before the full release of Escape from Tarkov on November 15th, Battlestate Games warned players that finishing the game’s new campaign would be incredibly challenging. They said the difficult and time-consuming story mode added with the 1.0 update would test even the best players, and recent data confirms they were right.

Battlestate Games announced on social media that Escape from Tarkov has now sold over one million copies since November 15th, adding to the millions already sold before the game’s full release.

They also mentioned that only 500 players have finished the game, which is a very small number compared to everyone who tried.

Escape from Tarkov is the Hardest Game Ever Made

Okay, so here’s a crazy stat I saw: Apparently, out of everyone who’s bought Escape from Tarkov since they hit a million copies sold, only about half a percent – around 500 players – have actually managed to complete the game and reach the end. That’s seriously tough!

If we estimate that at least five times more copies were sold before the game officially launched, we find that less than 0.1% of players have actually finished it. These numbers aren’t exact, but since Battlestate Games hasn’t shared official data, it’s the most reliable information available.

It’s worth remembering that the Escape from Tarkov campaign has only been out for about a month. So far, very few players have managed to finish it, and most will probably take many months to complete it.

Battlestate Games announced on December 1st that streamer Tigz was the first person globally to finish Escape from Tarkov. Since then, over 500 more players have also successfully completed the game.

Since it launched, #EscapefromTarkov has sold more than one million copies. Players have already spent an incredible 135 million hours – that’s 15,410 years! – exploring the game world. If you spread that time out into full Customs raids, it would be like completing over 200 million raids that lasted almost the entire time.

The team recently announced on social media that they’ve added more servers to handle the growing player base. They also celebrated reaching one million sales since launch and released a new promo code – ONEMILLIONPLUS – for all players.

But why is this important?

Escape from Tarkov is notorious for being incredibly difficult. It’s a relentlessly challenging game that often frustrates players with its cycle of preparing for raids, attempting to survive them, and hoping to return with loot. It’s known for being unforgiving.

A single bullet, fired at the right moment, can instantly stop someone, causing them to lose all their progress and possessions.

The game offers no maps, hints, or tutorials – it doesn’t hold your hand at all. It’s incredibly challenging, which explains why fewer than 500 people worldwide have finished it.

We estimate the figure to be around 0.1%, but it’s probably even less. Escape from Tarkov spent nearly ten years in early access versions (alpha and beta), and this calculation only considers sales of five million copies during that period.
