Could Linkin Park Be Performing This Year’s LoL Worlds Anthem?

As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the prospect of Linkin Park creating the League of Legends Worlds anthem has me more excited than a cat on a hot tin roof! Their music has always had this electrifying energy that perfectly encapsulates the intensity and excitement of competitive gaming.

Discussions surrounding every League of Legends World Championship often revolve around the song chosen to play during the tournament. This tune, known as the LoL Worlds Anthem, is a crucial moment each year, and it’s significant because some past anthems have garnered immense popularity, attracting hundreds of millions of plays shortly after release.

It’s been speculated this year that Linkin Park might create the anthem for the League of Legends World Championship, and there are several indications suggesting this could indeed be the case.

Heavy is the Crown

A few days past, Linkin Park announced a significant comeback to the music world, introducing their new lead vocalist, Emily Armstrong, and premiering a fresh tune – The Emptiness Machine. Their upcoming album, entitled From Zero, also features a song titled ‘Heavy is the Crown’.

Here’s where the idea begins to emerge – it seems like a tune that embodies champions. It might also echo Linkin Park’s past hit, ‘Heavy’, a song that was one of their last releases before the unfortunate demise of their lead singer, Chester Bennington.

In response to the post announcing the comeback of the group, the League of Legends Esports profile posted a ‘crown symbol’ – this is the second hint or clue.

It was noted that the upcoming Linkin Park tour would make a stop at the O2 Arena in London on September 24, coinciding with the period when the League of Legends World Championship will be happening there, from late October to early November.

Previously, artists such as Lil Nas X, NewJeans, Imagine Dragons, and Pvris have taken on the role of performing the League of Legends Worlds anthem. Given that Linkin Park shares similar popularity with these musicians, they would likely draw a significant audience to the tournament simply by participating in this track.
