As a devoted Stardew Valley enthusiast with countless hours spent farming, fishing, and mining my way through the charming town of Pelican, I can confidently say that the Magnifying Glass is an indispensable tool for any adventurer’s arsenal. This elusive item, hidden within the enigmatic quest “A Winter Mystery,” has opened up a whole new world of secrets and clues that would have otherwise remained buried beneath the soil or lost in the shadows of the Mines.
Are you still struggling to uncover all its hidden mysteries? When you crack its code, this endeavor becomes far more manageable.
To obtain the Magnifying Glass, you should finish up the quest titled “A Winter Mystery”. Don’t fret; it won’t take long!
Why Find The Magnifying Glass?
The Magnifying Glass allows you to find Secret Notes during the following activities:
- Digging up an Artifact Spot
- Clearing weeds on the farm
- Killing monsters in the Mines
- Chopping down trees
- Mining stones in the Mines or Quarry
- Fishing, instead of catching
- Breaking up giant crops
Hidden Messages offer tips for solving riddles or completing missions. On occasion, they even disclose secrets within the game of Stardew Valley!
Additional hidden notes disclose the cherished gifts for one of the villagers, making it much easier for you to locate their note. The new information has been conveniently added to your ‘Social’ section for quick reference.
A Winter Mystery
Feel free to start this journey anytime within the winter season. Simply head east from the Farm towards the Bus Stop to initiate a cutscene.
The cutscene for this quest can be activated only during the hours between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If you show up after that time or go to the Bus Stop in Pelican Town, it won’t activate.
In this interlude, a figure shrouded in mystery scampers off upon spotting you, leaving distinct tracks on the floor behind them. Upon its conclusion, A Winter Mystery is recorded in your logbook.
Finding the Stranger
Resolving this task should be quite straightforward; simply trace the footsteps left by the mysterious figure throughout Pelican Town.
The footprints lead you to a bush near the playground. This is just west of the Community Center. If you’ve got now is a convenient time.
Press the bush, revealing a hidden character who then emerges. Shortly after, a cutscene unfolds, and upon its conclusion, you’ll find a Magnifying Glass added to your items!
It would be most advantageous to finish this quest during Winter 1 as certain Winter foraged items such as Snow Yams can help generate Artifact Spots. Foraging during winter is my preferred method for increasing the number of Secret Notes in your collection.
