Zelda Fan Shows Off Beedle Cosplay

Key Takeaways

  • Beedle is a recurring Zelda character known for bug collecting and selling wares to Link.
  • A fan encountered a Beedle cosplayer at a Renaissance faire.
  • The friendly Beedle cosplayer wore detailed Breath of the Wild-inspired attire at the event.

As a lifelong Zelda enthusiast who has traversed countless hours through Hyrule’s enchanted landscapes, I must say that coming face-to-face with a real-life Beedle cosplayer was nothing short of magical! The level of detail and dedication this cosplayer put into their costume was truly impressive. It felt like the wandering merchant had stepped right out of my screen and into reality!

A fan of The Legend of Zelda series encountered a Beedle cosplay at a Renaissance faire recently and shared a picture of the cosplayer on social media for all to see. The Zelda fan was complimented by peers for their photography, and the Beedle cosplayer was also praised for bringing the traveling, bug-collecting merchant to life.

Initially introduced in “The Wind Waker” as a sea-traveling vendor, Beedle has since become a consistent figure across various “Zelda” games. Living up to his moniker, Beedle is an avid collector and aficionado of insects, and he offers Link a variety of merchandise including arrows and potions during their adventures. In “Phantom Hourglass”, Beedle occasionally wears a helmet and assumes the guise of “Beedle’s Assistant” to deceive unsuspecting adversaries. In “Skyward Sword”, his store is actually an airship he navigates using a control system reminiscent of a bicycle. Beedle’s roles in “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” are less complex, as you can find him moving about Hyrule’s stables and inns.

Although recurring characters such as Ganondorf have been brought to life via cosplay, one Zelda fan saw a real-life version of the series’ wandering merchant for themselves. A Reddit user named CptRavioLi69 shared a picture on the r/TOTK subreddit that they took of a Beedle cosplayer. The Beedle cosplay was modeled after the character’s appearances in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The cosplayer wore a white shirt with a beetle print, a red sash and scarf, and denim shorts. The cosplayer also carried a large felt knapsack that looked similar to the bag Beedle had in the games, with a stag beetle horn motif and a canopy made with PVC pipes and cloth for shade. The Beedle cosplayer also attached some signs to the “shop counter” that Beedle can pull down and push up from his bag’s canopy.

Zelda Fan Encounters Friendly Beedle Cosplayer

The individual dressed as Beedle from Zelda carried a stone on the table, possibly for balancing purposes or symbolizing the goods sold by the character in the series. As per CptRavioLi69’s account, this encounter took place at a Renaissance Fair in Bristol, Wisconsin – a town near both Lake Michigan and the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Despite being friendly, CptRavioLi69 did not manage to obtain the Beedle cosplayer’s contact details.

Enthusiasts of Zelda highly commended CptRavioLi69 for their exceptional photography skills and a cosplayer portraying Beedle for their meticulous attention to detail. Even though characters like Dampe are set to return in the imminent “Echoes of Wisdom”, it remains uncertain when Beedle will grace us with his presence again.
