As a long-time fan, I’ve watched the Assassin’s Creed series change a lot over the last decade. Ubisoft started adding RPG stuff – levels, gear, all that – which was a big shift from the action-adventure games we all loved since 2007. When Odyssey came out in 2018, it felt like a really fresh take, and a lot of us thought it fixed a formula that was starting to feel a little stale. But now, with each new game, I think a lot of fans – and critics – are starting to feel like they’ve gone too far with the RPG elements. Games like Odyssey and Valhalla just feel…overstuffed, honestly. It’s lost some of what made Assassin’s Creed special, in my opinion.
