Megabonk features three distinct maps: Forest, Desert, and Graveyard. The Graveyard is the newest addition and offers a unique experience compared to the other two. Players must explore a crypt to reach the central area and collect keys before they can battle Big Bob, the Stage Boss.
Graveyard differs from the first two maps by featuring two main bosses: Big Bob and Spooky Steve. While Spooky Steve is a challenging optional boss, defeating him isn’t necessary to finish the map. However, if players manage to beat him, they’ll unlock a new character in Megabonk.
How to Find Spooky Steve in Megabonk

Spooky Steve is a boss character in the Graveyard map of Megabonk. While not the main boss of the level, he presents the biggest challenge for players.
Players can find Spooky Steve in Megabonk by being in the Crypt when the timer reaches zero. If you can’t escape the Crypt before time runs out, or if you choose to stay, Spooky Steve will show up.
How to Kill Spooky Steve in Megabonk
Spooky Steve is an incredibly tough boss in Megabonk, boasting over 340,3Ud health and dealing massive damage – exceeding a million! Defeating him isn’t about raw power; players need a carefully planned strategy and the right gear, including specific items, weapons, and tomes. Even with what’s considered the best possible setup, he can still defeat players with a single attack.
Spooky Steve’s attacks are so powerful they’ll defeat players no matter how much they’ve upgraded their health and shields. This means players need to focus on avoiding his attacks altogether.
To defeat Spooky Steve, players need to choose weapons and items that can block, slow, or stop him. They can also boost their skills using tomes. Here are some helpful tips to create the best setup and strategy for beating Spooky Steve and unlocking Roberto, a new character added to Megabonk in the Spooky Update.
Tips to Beat Spooky Steve in Megabonk
To defeat Spooky Steve, the key is to stun him, allowing you to attack while he’s helpless and avoid taking damage yourself. Following these steps will make the fight much easier in Megabonk.
Loot the Crypt As Much As You Can

If players can find all four keys and unlock the Crypt Door, they’ll explore the Crypt a second time on the Graveyard map. Inside, they’ll find six chests and nineteen pots. Opening as many of these as possible will greatly improve their chances of surviving the difficult early stages of the game, as that’s often when players struggle.
These pots will significantly help players earn experience and gold. The chests found in the Crypt are completely free, allowing players to start with up to six free items – a big boost at the beginning of the game. Players should aim to collect as much loot as possible during each of their two visits to the Crypt.
When facing Spooky Steve in the Crypt for the second time, players should choose a room that’s safe and allows for easy movement. Avoid areas with lots of obstacles like walls or lava.
Best Characters to Beat Spooky Steve
Spooky Steve is incredibly powerful and can defeat players with just one hit, so blocking his attacks is essential. Luckily, Athena excels at both blocking and counterattacking. Her Aegis ability lets her completely avoid damage from Spooky Steve, making her an excellent choice for this fight.
Bandit is another excellent character to choose. His main weapon, the Dexecutioner, gets faster as he gains levels. The Dexecutioner is key to most strategies for defeating Spooky Steve, because its special attack deals significant damage to this tough boss. Plus, Bandit is a bit quicker overall, making it easier to collect loot and explore the map, which helps players get more items and level up before the Final Swarm arrives.
Toggle Off What You Don’t Need For Your Strategy
Beating Spooky Steve requires more than just leveling up and getting stronger weapons and magical books. Having the correct weapons, books, and items will be key to defeating him.
Once you’ve decided on a strategy, use the Toggler (bought in the Shop) to hide items you don’t need in your inventory. If some items can’t be hidden, you can use the refresh, skip, and banish options – also found in the Shop – to get rid of them.
Best Weapons to Beat Spooky Steve
To defeat Spooky Steve, players need to both stop him from moving and inflict as much damage as possible. They also have to be able to withstand his attacks when he breaks free. Because of this, there are three essential weapons for anyone hoping to win against him:
- Aegis – able to block his blows, keeping players alive
- Dexecutioner – has a chance to perform an Execute on Spooky Steve, significantly lowering his health
- Black Hole – keeps enemies in place, immobilizing Spooky Steve for longer
Some players like to carry only three weapons to make each one as strong as possible, while others prefer having four different options. If you want a fourth weapon, Frostwalker is a good choice because it can sometimes freeze enemies.
Stay for the Final Swarm But Don’t Get Greedy

Even after the Final Swarm timer ends, players can continue exploring the map and collecting experience and items to prepare for the final boss. Just be careful during the Final Swarm – those enemies can quickly overwhelm you if you’re not defeating them efficiently.
It’s okay to quickly check the map at the very beginning of the Final Swarm, but don’t wander too far from the Crypt. The best strategy is to scout the area before the swarm begins, then position yourselves near the Crypt’s entrance. This ensures you’ll have enough time to get inside and fight Spooky Steve.
Best Items to Beat Spooky Steve
If you want to defeat Spooky Steve, it’s essential to stop him from moving. To do this, focus on items that stun or freeze him – things with electric or ice powers, like:
- Ice Crystal – 7,5 percent chance to freeze enemies upon hitting them
- Thunder Mitts – Upon hitting an enemy, generate a lightning strike
- Electric Plug – Upon taking damage, send out an electric shock to nearby enemies
- Power Gloves – 8 percent chance to create a giant blast upon hitting an enemy, damaging and knocking enemies away
- Lightning Orb – 25 percent chance to summon lightning when hitting enemies. Lightning can now stun enemies
- Ice Cube – 28 percent cahnce to inflict damage when hitting enemies. Ice can now freeze enemies
- Overpowered Lamp – +1 chance to proc on hit effects
Players will be eager to get as many of these items as possible, and might even try to create duplicates using a microwave.
