ARC Raiders Player Joins Forces with the ARCs

One player of the popular game ARC Raiders decided to have some fun and join the enemy robots in a match, hoping to brighten the experience for other players. The game, ARC Raiders, has been a success for Embark Studios, blending player-versus-player and player-versus-environment gameplay. It had a strong launch and continues to maintain a dedicated player base months later.

The game’s continued success is mostly thanks to regular updates with new content and bug fixes, like the recent ‘Cold Snap’ update for ARC Raiders. This update introduced a new snowy environment to many maps and a special event called ‘Flickering Flames’ where players could earn extra rewards. Beyond updates, ARC Raiders is popular because its world feels constantly changing, making every match feel fresh and unpredictable, often with surprising events.

ARC Raiders Player Switches Sides During a Round

A Reddit user named jimblesnostrombo, who enjoys playing ARC Raiders, got frustrated with constantly being put into player-versus-player (PvP) matches. To change things up, they decided to play as one of the game’s enemies. They used a Snap Hook to climb onto a Rocketeer – a powerful enemy – and ride around on it, almost like the Green Goblin. While there’s an achievement for damaging other players while on a Rocketeer, this player had a more lighthearted goal in mind.

A recent video shows a player named jimblesnostrombo causing playful chaos in ARC Raiders while riding a Rocketeer vehicle. Over almost two minutes, they drove around different game lobbies, setting off fireworks and dancing. There were a few mishaps too – at one point, the Rocketeer flipped, throwing jimblesnostrombo off and eliminating them. Luckily, after being thrown into a building, other players kindly used a defibrillator to bring them back to life. Despite dying frequently, the player considers the experiment a big success.

Although matchmaking in ARC Raiders seems mostly random, it’s possible to influence what kind of lobby you get into. Art director Robert Sammelin suggested the game analyzes how players play and uses that information when creating matches. This means players who prefer player-versus-player (PvP) combat are more likely to end up in lobbies with more of that action. Embark Studios hasn’t shared many details, but it seems your playstyle can affect the matches you join.

This player’s actions are just one example of the surprising and creative ways people are playing ARC Raiders. The game throws AI enemies and player interaction into the mix, leading to a lot of unexpected moments. Players are constantly finding ways to go beyond the normal gameplay, using the game’s features to make things more interesting. For instance, a group recently collaborated to create a spectacular fireworks display on top of the Spaceport map’s Towers. Other players have hosted trivia nights with prizes, performed music for others, and come up with countless other unique activities.
