How to Unlock Roberto in Megabonk

When Megabonk first launched, players could choose from 20 different characters. The game received a major update in December 2025 called ‘Spooky,’ which added another character to unlock. This was a welcome addition for players who had become skilled with the existing roster.

This guide explains how to unlock and play Roberto, the final character in Megabonk. It covers everything you need to know about using him in the game.

How to Unlock Roberto in Megabonk

Roberto isn’t available to play with at the start of Megabonk. Players need to unlock him first by completing a few tasks. After that, they can buy him from the character selection menu.

To get Roberto in Megabonk, players need to first find the Scythe and then defeat Spooky Steve. This means beating both of the main bosses in the Graveyard area. While it’s a challenging task, our guide offers helpful tips and tricks to make it easier.

How to Unlock the Scythe in Megabonk

Similar to Roberto, the Scythe was introduced to Megabonk with the Spooky update. To play as this spooky character, players need to find and collect his weapon, the Scythe, first.

In Megabonk, players can obtain the Scythe by defeating Big Bob, the boss of the Graveyard level. To find Big Bob, you’ll need to leave the Crypt and explore the Graveyard. While there, you must collect four keys to unlock the way back. It’s important to make the most of your time in the Graveyard, as the enemies are stronger than those in the Forest and Desert, making it harder to reach the boss. Although 16 minutes might seem like enough time to level up, the increased difficulty of the enemies presents a significant challenge.

Okay, so if I’m getting ready to face Big Bob, I really need to grind and get my character as strong as possible, and definitely find some awesome gear! Once I feel ready, I need to go to the Crypt, get the door open, and head inside. Then, to actually find Big Bob, I’ve gotta make my way to the very back of the Crypt and open another door. Sounds intense!

Defeating Big Bob can be tough if you’re not ready. He’s found in a dark stone room, and the key to damaging him is to light all four lamp posts in the corners. This will brighten the room and hurt him.

Players need to watch out, because this enemy will call down rocks and trees to block their path. A red indicator will show where these obstacles will appear, giving players time to dodge them. He’ll also sometimes flood the area with lava, but luckily, some platforms will stay above the lava, providing a safe haven.

To keep activating the lamp posts during the lava floor challenge, focus on buying more jumps at the Charge Shrines located in the graveyard.

After beating Big Bob, players will be one step closer to getting the Scythe. But, like all unlockable weapons in Megabonk, they’ll still need to buy it from the Unlocks section. The Scythe costs 44 Silver Coins, so players might need to spend some extra time earning money after defeating the boss of the Graveyard stage in Megabonk.

Okay, so if you’re like me and really want the Scythe but are a little short on in-game currency, there’s a couple of things you can do. You can head to the Shop and refund some of the perks you’ve already bought – that’ll give you some money back. Or, if you’re feeling it, you can always go back and finish up some of those easier Quests you might have skipped over. It’s a great way to earn some extra cash!

How to Kill Big Steve in Megabonk

Players will then need to defeat Spooky Steve, who usually appears first but is a challenging opponent. He appears in the Crypt when the timer ends. If players don’t hurry to the Graveyard, they’ll encounter Spooky Steve before they’ve had a chance to gain enough experience and become stronger.

Once the players gather all four keys in the Graveyard and go back to the Crypt, they’ll get another opportunity to summon the boss, and they’ll be better equipped to defeat it this time.

If you want to beat Spooky Steve in Megabonk, you’ll need to focus on that goal throughout the entire game. You’ll need certain items to survive his powerful attacks. Spooky Steve is very tough and will instantly defeat you if he touches you.

To defeat Spooky Steve, you need to stop him from moving so you can attack him safely without getting hit by his powerful attacks. Items like the Thunder Mitts, Ice Cube, and Power Gloves can freeze or stun him, making him vulnerable. Using the Aegis will protect you from his attacks, and the Dexecutioner’s Execute ability is essential for dealing damage. Okay, so I finally finished those two things they asked for, and now I can buy Roberto! It’ll cost me 37 Silver Coins in Megabonk, which is awesome. I’m so excited to finally add him to my team!

Roberto Character Overview

  • Starting Weapon: Scythe – Slash in a circle around you. Killing Elite Enemies charges a stronger attack.
  • Unique Ability: Hoarder – Free chest every 60 seconds, increasing to 120 seconds over levels. He can also float (a little).

Players who choose Roberto as their character will begin with the Scythe. This weapon provides all-around defense and delivers a powerful attack bonus after defeating an Elite Enemy. The Scythe can be made even more effective by upgrading its power and speed.

Roberto has a special ability: he creates a free chest every minute. As you progress and level up, this happens less often – every two minutes instead. Because Roberto will open many chests, players should use this to their advantage and try to find Card items that boost his stats.

Because he’s a ghost, he can jump surprisingly far, thanks to his ability to float. He doesn’t float for as long as some characters like Birdo, but it’s usually enough to help him escape danger or reach new areas.
