The initial in-game event, or Expedition, for ARC Raiders has begun, but players are discovering that Workshops they’d previously unlocked are now gone. This is common in many online games—like Escape from Tarkov, Once Human, and ARC Raiders—where developers regularly ‘wipe’ the game. A wipe resets everyone’s progress, removing items and bringing all players back to the beginning. While each game handles wipes a little differently, the main goal is to keep things fair and engaging. Without them, experienced players would quickly reach the end of the game and might lose interest.
A common problem with game resets is that they can be frustrating for players who don’t have a lot of time to progress. Starting over repeatedly can be discouraging. However, ARC Raiders has found a solution with “Expeditions” – optional resets that players can choose to participate in. This means if you’re not ready to start over, you don’t have to. To encourage players to join Expeditions, the developers at Embark Studios are offering rewards like more storage space, extra skill points, unique cosmetics, and temporary boosts for new players. Plus, certain items you’ve unlocked, like Workshop Stations, will remain available even after an Expedition.
ARC Raiders Players’ Workshop Stations Have Disappeared

The first ARC Raiders Expedition launched on December 22nd after a short delay, but many players were disappointed to find they had to rebuild and upgrade their Workshop Stations. Initially, players believed their stations would be saved, but only the basic Workbench is available when they return from an Expedition. Embark, the game developer, quietly updated the in-game list of saved and reset items before the launch, removing “Unlocked Workshop Stations” from the list of things that would be kept.
Players are noticing a problem with ARC Raiders after the Expedition: all crafting stations except the initial Workbench have been reset. While the developers say workshops were always listed for reset, many players recall seeing unlocked workshop stations specifically listed as ‘Kept’ previously, leading them to believe their progress would be saved. It seems this is a case of miscommunication, and players now have to rebuild and upgrade their crafting stations from scratch.
Back in October, when Embark first detailed the Expedition Project, they clearly stated that players would lose progress-related items, including Workshop content. This was explained again in later updates, with a December 12th post mentioning that Workshop upgrades would be available after the reset, suggesting levels wouldn’t be lost. However, some ARC Raiders players still mistakenly believed they wouldn’t have to completely re-unlock their Workshop stations.
Players are frustrated that the recent update removed the ability to keep unlocked workshop stations without any announcement. Many had hoped to retain their progress as a silver lining after changes to the Expedition. Rebuilding these stations is particularly annoying because upgrading them requires rare and time-consuming items, like the difficult-to-find Rusted Gear, in ARC Raiders.
Image via Game Rant It’s normal for new games to have some problems when they introduce new features. The first test of ARC Raiders, called the Expedition, seems to have gone smoothly, with only a little confusion about workshop stations. However, some players are questioning if the Expedition is worth it, even if the workshops are fixed. They’re concerned about losing items and the high cost of building the Expedition Caravan – it requires a lot of parts and 5 million coins to unlock all the skill upgrades.
