How to Craft Smart Plating in Satisfactory

As a seasoned Satisfactory player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the journey to craft Smart Plating has been a delightful addition to the game. It’s always intriguing when the developers introduce new elements that push us to rethink our factory layout and optimize our production lines.

Once Phase 1 is successfully accomplished by constructing the Space Elevator, ADA, the supervisor for FICSIT, will assign players the new objective of transporting specific scarce resources up to the Elevator.

To finish the initial Space Elevator delivery, you’ll need 50 pieces of Smart Plating, an item that players haven’t encountered before this stage. Unlike Iron Plates or Copper Wire, Smart Plating can’t be made at a Crafting Bench, which might lead to some puzzlement about how to obtain it.

In the game Satisfactory, it’s important to know that Smart Plating can only be produced through an Assembler facility, not on a Crafting Bench or via the HUB terminal. To create this item, players must establish a basic automation system to supply the necessary materials for Smart Plating to their Assembler.

  • Rotor x1
  • Reinforced Iron Plate x1

While there are many ways to streamline this, the following can be used as a starting point.

  1. Build two storage containers side-by-side.
  2. Store Rotors in one container.
  3. Store Reinforced Iron Plates in the other container.
  4. Build an Assembler right in front of these two containers, with the two input slots facing each container’s output vents.
  5. Connect the Rotor container to one Assembler port and the Reinforced Iron Plates container to the other port.
  6. Interact with the Assembler and select the ‘Smart Plating’ recipe under the Space Elevator tab at the top.
  7. Connect the Assembler to the power grid to turn it on and start the automation.

If players are in a time crunch and require just 50 Smart Plating, they have the option of setting up a solitary Assembler, connecting it to an energy source, and then personally adding 50 Rotors and 50 Reinforced Iron Plates to its recipe list.

As a fan, if I’ve been diligent in setting up my automation system earlier in the game, by now I would have my Copper Wires, Reinforced Iron Plates, and even Rotors being produced automatically. If that’s the case, connecting Smart Plating production to these existing automations is as easy as pie!

Establish an Assembler in close proximity to your Iron Plate and Screw manufacturing sites, utilizing it for the production of Reinforced Iron Plates. Set up a second Assembler, supplying it with Iron Rods and Screws to yield Rotors. Link both outputs to another Assembler to generate Smart Plating.

One of the fantastic aspects of Satisfactory is that taking apart pre-existing structures carries no negative consequences, fostering creativity in construction layout and setup designs. Don’t hesitate to overhaul your entire production line if it becomes disorganized; moving it elsewhere comes without any drawbacks whatsoever.
