Farming Simulator 25: two more crops announced

As a seasoned farmer with decades of virtual agriculture under my belt, I can confidently say that the announcement of peas and green beans in Farming Simulator 25 has me all a-twitter! The humor shown by Giants Software never ceases to amuse me, and their latest video, “Spinach in 25 seconds,” had me chuckling like a tractor on a gravel road.

Giants Software has revealed that they will be adding two new farm produce options to Farming Simulator 25 – specifically peas and green beans – following their confirmation of rice and spinach.

The developers have verified that Farming Simulator 25 will offer up to 25 different types of crops for players to cultivate on their fields. Additionally, various tree species and vegetable options in greenhouses will provide additional diversity to the farming experience. They’ve mentioned that the number of crops in the game coincidentally matches its title, but it wasn’t intentionally planned.

It’s not unfair to note that the creators of this piece seem to have a knack for comedy, as evidenced by their latest video titled “Spinach in 25 Seconds,” which you can view here:

Here’s some more information, from the latest press release:

Cultivating peas & beans

At the start of a farmer’s year, peas are sown in March, which is a month prior to planting green beans. It takes peas around four months to mature, and farmers rely on advanced harvesting machinery during this period, after implementing procedures to enhance crop yields. Machines like the OXBO EPD540E, an autonomous pea harvester, ensure a fruitful harvesting season that spans from July to October, or from August to December for green beans.

Rice & spinach with special requirements

Farmers who value attentive crops will find the allure of rice and spinach growing, as these crops possess unique requirements: Rice and long-grain rice are two distinct crops that necessitate separate strategies for water control and tools for planting and reaping. They are cultivated in paddy fields – areas specially engineered for water storage. Spinach, on the other hand, is not for the leisurely farmer: This leafy crop can be harvested twice a season following a single sowing – but farmers must act promptly. Additionally, they need to work swiftly after reaping as spinach cannot be stored and needs to be sold quickly before it wilts.

More details are yet to come

Even as we’re nearing the unveiling, GIANTS Software is holding back a few surprises. Some of these, such as the introduction of a third-person view during gameplay and the charming sight of animals mowing the grass in fields, have recently been hinted at through previews.

On November 12th, the new Farming Simulator game (version 25) will become available for download on PCs, Macs, PlayStation 5 consoles, and Xbox Series X|S gaming systems.
