I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about THump, a retired pro gamer, lately! He’s been totally dominating in ARC Raiders by taking on groups of players even when he’s playing solo, and it’s got everyone talking about the game’s player-versus-player aspects again. ARC Raiders first came out on October 30, 2025, and you can play it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Embark Studios’ new shooter, ARC Raiders, quickly became a popular game in 2025. It combines player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) gameplay, which has sometimes caused disagreements among players. Soon after launch, videos emerged showing players working together to defeat the game’s enemies. ARC Raiders gained a reputation for its cooperative spirit, with solo players often signaling they were friendly and forming temporary teams to tackle difficult challenges. Many videos showcase players defeating huge enemies, sharing the rewards, and successfully escaping missions. However, the game also features moments of backstabbing, where players who seemed friendly suddenly turn on their allies during the escape. Some players are only interested in fighting others and will attack anyone, even those trying to cooperate. This unpredictable mix of cooperation and conflict is a core part of the ARC Raiders experience, and one streamer has recently gained attention for consistently being hostile to other players.
Former Pro Gamer THump Is Hunting Players Teaming up in Arc Raiders
Streamer and former pro gamer THump recently tweeted that he enjoys defeating other players in ARC Raiders, especially those trying to earn credits for the expedition. This expedition requires players to sacrifice blueprints and upgrades for permanent benefits. THump even stated he’ll target players who team up while playing solo. He shared a clip showing him eliminating multiple opponents. One player claimed they were killed right at the start of a match with an empty inventory, though it’s possible they were concealing valuable items brought from their storage.
A recent clip of gameplay sparked a lot of discussion among players, with opinions divided on whether the actions shown were helpful or harmful to the game. One player pointed out that player-versus-player combat (PvP) is optional in ARC Raiders, and THump responded by saying he’s used to games where PvP is unavoidable – a core part of the experience. He suggested those who prefer optional PvP should play World of Warcraft (WoW), where it’s available but not required. Essentially, THump is highlighting the different approaches to PvP between games. It’s important to note that everyone involved was playing within the rules; teaming up is common in solo lobbies. Similarly, THump didn’t break any rules either. This is mainly a debate about community standards and expectations, and it frequently arises because ARC Raiders combines PvP and player-versus-environment (PvE) gameplay, attracting players with diverse preferences.
Embark Studios appears to be listening to player feedback and is trying to create a better experience in ARC Raiders. The game’s matchmaking system now considers how players behave – aggressive players will likely be grouped with others who play similarly, and more peaceful players will be matched with each other. However, you won’t always be with people who share your style. The game intentionally blends both player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) content, as the developers believe both are essential to the overall experience. With plenty of content available now and even more planned, many fans are excited about what’s next for ARC Raiders.
