All Spells in Black Myth: Wukong (& How to Get Them)

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Black Myth: Wukong‘s spell system is nothing short of fascinating! The way these abilities are intertwined and complement each other in combat is simply brilliant.

In the game titled “Black Myth: Wukong”, the Chosen One embarks on a journey to acquire the Six Senses of the Wise Master. Throughout this quest, they will discover various helpful spells. These spells may appear recognizable if you are acquainted with the tale of Journey to the West, as they resemble powers Sun Wukong held and/or allude to episodes from that story.

Exploring every spell in Black Myth: Wukong will significantly enhance your gameplay experience, arming you with a versatile arsenal of abilities that amplify the Destined One’s martial prowess. The right spells can transform challenging boss battles into more manageable encounters, and even render some fights virtually effortless when utilized effectively. This guide offers a concise overview of each spell and its location, along with links to comprehensive guides for each spell where available.

Mysticism

In Black Myth: Wukong, the initial type of magic you’ll encounter is called Mystic Abilities. These abilities are generally helpful, either by restraining opponents or boosting the main character, referred to as the Destined One. You can stumble upon two Mystic Abilities simply by progressing through the game naturally. However, the third one becomes available only after you finish a side quest during Chapter 3.

Immobilize

In the heat of my first battle in Chapter 1, I’ll pick up the spell called Immobilize. It’s a real game-changer! When cast on an enemy, it instantly freezes them solid, making them as good as defenseless for a brief moment. This can be super handy for buying some time to heal or flee from a risky situation. On the offensive side, it ensures my powerful attacks hit their mark without fail. I can’t wait to see how this spell becomes an essential tool in my arsenal throughout the game, proving useful against almost every kind of foe.

Ring of Fire

In the second instance of the Mysticism Spell called “Ring of Fire,” it’s taught by the recurring character, Old Man “Yuan Shoucheng,” from Journey to the West. You can encounter him sipping tea in Chapter 3. He uses this spell to ward off the Macaque Chief. After the Macaque Chief is defeated here, they flee, creating an opportunity for the Chosen One to engage with Yuan Shoucheng and master this spell.

The Ring of Fire creates a fiery circle around you using your staff. This circle wards off lesser foes, boosts your stamina regeneration speed, and amplifies the potency of your brewed concoctions. With some enhancements, it can also mend the Chosen One and replenish mental clarity, making it a superb charm for extended skirmishes where your flask refills become increasingly precious.

Spell Binder

In the Mysticism class, the sole discretionary charm, Spell Binder, amplifies the attacks of the Chosen One at the sacrifice of Mana. However, while Spell Binder is engaged, the Chosen One cannot cast other spells, utilize soul abilities, or undergo transformations, thus using this spell carries an element of danger. Gamers who prefer to emphasize the Chosen One’s fundamental combat style and maximize their combo damage may find this spell ideal.

To get the Spell Binder, you should finish the Treasure Hunter Quest in Chapter 3 first. This quest concludes when you defeat the Green-Capped Martialist. Once you’ve defeated him, you’ll be given the Spell Binder as a reward.

Alteration

In the storyline of Black Myth: Wukong, you obtain both sets of Transformation Charms, which prove indispensable for defense and movement due to their helpful properties.

Cloud Step

With your initial Wind-Shaping Charm mastered, you’ll be able to dart in any direction as if blown by the wind – this is known as Cloud Step. In this windy guise, not only do you move more swiftly and evade detection from many foes, but you can also unleash a potent “Revealing Blow” upon reappearing from thin air. Additionally, using Cloud Step creates a decoy to divert enemy focus.

After your initial battle against the Black Wind King, towards the end of Chapter 1, you’ll learn about Cloud Step.

Rock Solid

Rock Solid serves as Black Myth: Wukong’s parry mechanic, allowing the Destined One to turn to stone and deflect an incoming attack. This makes it a fantastic tool against many foes, though certain strong attacks will still blow you away. You’ll learn Rock Solid after beating the Tiger Vanguard, found in Chapter 2.

Strand

As an eager enthusiast, I’d like to share that Strand is a unique category of spells, comprising just two enchantments. One of these spells gets magically bestowed upon me during the main tale, while the other becomes accessible in New Game Plus.

Pluck of Many

All Spells in Black Myth: Wukong (& How to Get Them)

Sun Wukong’s renowned technique called Pluck of Many enables the Chosen One to transform a mass of their hair into battle-ready clones. These clones are capable of inflicting substantial harm while also serving as a diversion. With appropriate enhancements, they can even cast spells such as Rock Solid and Immobilize, becoming exceptionally proficient at hindering opponents and dealing damage to bosses.

At the tail-end of Chapter 2, as you venture into the valley, you’ll come across the Headless Monk who will teach you the enchantment called “Pluck of Many.” This particular spell cannot be overlooked.

Life-Saving Strand

In the New Game Plus mode, there’s a spell called Life-Saving Strand. This spell activates every 10 minutes to safeguard the Chosen One, by creating a duplicate from one of their hairs when they’re in peril. The original character remains unharmed, while the clone takes the damaging blow and is healed back to full health. Although it doesn’t replenish flask uses, it serves as an effective defensive measure during tough boss battles, especially if you’re uncertain about evading a particular attack.

You’ll receive Life-Saving Strand when you interact with the first Keeper Shrine in New Game Plus.
