Players might find themselves incapable of creating Steel even upon reaching their target, because the Steel recipe demands a supplementary material that hasn’t been unlocked for them yet.
How to Unlock Steel in Satisfactory
In the game ‘Satisfactory’, you can access steel production by achieving the ‘Basic Steel Production’ achievement in Tier 3 of the HUB terminal upgrades. This milestone also opens up Steel Beams, Steel Pipes, and Steel Ingots. To accomplish this task, you will require these specific materials:

- Rotor x150
- Concrete x500

How to Make Steel Ingots in Satisfactory
In the realm of construction, steel ingots serve as fundamental building components, often referred to as an alloy made from Iron Ore and Coal. To create these alloys, you’ll need a special structure called a Foundry, which becomes accessible at the same point in the game where steel is introduced. On the other hand, while iron ore production might be automated by this stage, coal production requires completing the Coal Power milestone in Tier 3 before it can be set up and managed automatically.
- 3 Coal + 3 Iron Ore = 3 Steel Ingot
If players unlock Basic Steel Production before finishing Coal Power, there is no way to produce any Steel products. This is because all Steel items are essentially refinements of Steel Ingots, which themselves can only be crafted using Coal.
Ingot steel can be processed into either steel pipes and steel beams utilizing a Construction tool or a Crafting Station.
- 3 Steel Ingot = 2 Steel Pipes

How to Build a Foundry in Satisfactory
