As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours dabbling in various games, I can confidently say that Satisfactory has become my latest obsession. The thrill of creating an efficient factory is one thing, but the ability to customize it with a plethora of colors and patterns is another level of satisfaction!
In Satisfactory, setting up an ultra-productive factory is merely the beginning. The true fun lies in adjusting your factory’s layout and dabbling with various color schemes, which unlocks the game’s customization features. With a simple click of a button, you can entirely transform the mood of your factory. Furthermore, you can combine unique patterns to give your factory a distinct and eye-catching look.
Learning to modify building colors within the game Satisfactory can seem puzzling initially, as the instructions aren’t overly clear. To assist you in understanding the customization process, we’ve put together this guide that covers all aspects of customizing your buildings in Satisfactory.
How to Unlock the Customizer
In the beginning stages of the game Satisfactory, when you enter a fresh world, you won’t immediately have the option to personalize the color of your buildings. To gain this ability, you must first unlock the feature known as the Customizer. This can be achieved by progressing in the game, completing objectives until you advance to Tier 2 after finishing the initial tutorial and enhancing your Hub Terminal.
The Customizer upgrade for your Build Gun is in Milestone 4, called the Resource Sink Bonus Program. Here are the resources you’ll need to unlock this Milestone:
- 400x Concrete
- 500x Wire
- 200x Iron Rod
- 200x Iron Plate
Although the resource demand is somewhat steep, acquiring these resources isn’t too challenging since you should already have Miners stationed at Iron, Copper, and Limestone mining sites to gather the essential crafting components. By reaching Milestone 4, your Build Gun will automatically upgrade, enabling you to utilize the Customizer with it.
How to Customize Buildings in Satisfactory (Change Color)
Excitedly, I’m delving into the world of customization now that I’ve gained access! Here’s how I plan to transform my factory’s surroundings:
- Press X on your keyboard to bring up the Customizer menu and then head into the Color option on the top left corner.
- You’ll see swatches categorized into Default, Custom, and Regular. On the default row, hover your mouse over the FICSIT Factory Swatch.
- Click on the Edit option at the bottom.
- This will bring up a new window with two color palettes that you can adjust according to your taste. Satisfactory uses an HSB color format for the sliders, so you can change it to any color you want or even use a hexidecimal code.
- Once you’re done, press Select Color and exit the Customizer.
Instead, consider pressing ‘Q’ to bring up the Build menu and select the Customizer tab at the top. You’ll see that this action will make all factories and related machinery in your vicinity adopt the same color. This is ideal if you value consistency in your design or are aiming for a particular theme.
You can also change the color of your Project Assembly, Foundations, Concrete Structure, and Pipeline the same way! Simply hover your mouse over the option, and you’ll see the option to edit the color to your liking.
You may prefer diverse hues and patterns on the walls of your structures. Fortunately, there’s an answer to that within the game Satisfactory. For those who wish to precisely place each color scheme, here are some instructions:
- Bring up the Customizer menu using X again and head into the Color option.
- This time, click on Custom Swatch instead, in the second row.
- Choose the color you want using the sliders and press Select Color.
- Now, any surface you point at with your crosshair will change to the color you selected on the Custom Swatch. Click the Left Mouse Button to apply the color.
Performing this action will ensure that the Swatch is preserved within the Customizer menu. If you wish to modify all walls created using the Swatch, simply click ‘Edit’, then select a different color and watch as it automatically updates all the walls for you. The next time you extend an invitation to a friend in your server, you can flaunt your factory in a fresh new hue!
How to Add Patterns in Satisfactory
In the game ‘Satisfactory‘, personalization extends beyond color choices; you can also incorporate various designs and symbols/arrows into your Foundations. The process is quite similar, with the unique twist being that you need to acquire the patterns from the AWESOME Shop first. Once you’ve unlocked the desired patterns, follow these steps:
- Bring up the Customizer menu and click on the Patterns button on the left. You’ll be able to see all the patterns you’ve bought and unlocked, categorized based on their type.
- Simply click on the pattern you want to use, and it will appear wherever you point with your Build Gun.
- Select the wall/foundation you want to use the pattern on and click the Left Mouse Button to apply it. You can also rotate the pattern with the Middle Mouse Button.
Although Satisfactory may not offer a wide range of color options at first glance, you’ll find that it becomes easier to customize once you’re familiar with the Customizer menu. It might require some effort initially, but it’s nowhere near as complex as creating Smart Plating for the first time. Once you reach Milestone 4 in Tier 2, you’ll have ample opportunities to play around with all the various colors available in the game to make your factory reflect your unique style.
