Hit games are constantly gaining traction on Steam, and the player base keeps expanding. However, achieving true success on the platform is challenging. Games need to appeal to a broad audience and offer unique gameplay that’s both enjoyable and captivating.
Looking for something different in gaming? How about a game where you take down a powerful wizard with intentionally weak spells? Or a blend of the intense realism of Tarkov, the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout, and the fast-paced action of Call of Duty? If you’re bored with the same old games, try surviving a zombie apocalypse on a road trip in a motorhome! These unique titles are gaining a lot of attention – they’re either already popular or are among the most wishlisted games with playable demos. Get in early and experience them before everyone else discovers how great they are!
1. Megabonk
Is Having A Tremendous Surge Of Popularity
Megabonk is a thrilling roguelike that keeps players on the edge of their seats with constant action. You’ll battle waves of enemies, improve your character, find powerful weapons, and discover helpful bonuses. It’s a quirky and funny game with a lot to offer!
To win this game, you need to quickly build up powerful items and reach the late game with a really strong character. However, you’ll encounter regular enemies, tougher Elite enemies, challenging Portal bosses, and a final boss, so it’s crucial to balance your stats like damage and attack speed. With lots of characters to unlock and challenges to overcome, it’s easy to see why the game is gaining so much popularity – it’s incredibly exciting and engaging!
2. Ashes Of Creation
A Mixture Of Old School And New Age MMO
Ashes of Creation is a game that generated a lot of excitement, especially among fans of titles like Albion Online, World of Warcraft, and Lineage 2. Players are looking forward to its combination of popular features from those games, with even more new content. While still a work in progress, a standout feature is the deep multiclass system, letting players build a huge variety of characters – up to 64 different types, actually!
As a long-time gamer, I’m genuinely impressed with this title. It manages to hit all the right notes for those of us who grew up with classic MMOs, but it also scratches that itch for survival crafting that’s been so popular lately. What really sets it apart, though, is how much control players have – we’re not just following a story, we’re building a world together, running cities, and crafting everything ourselves. It’s a really big deal, and honestly, it’s incredibly engaging!
3. YAPYAP
Here Comes The Black Horse No One Expected
- Release Date: TBA
- Developers: Maison Bap
- Available Platforms: PC (Steam)
YAPYAP is a funny game that mixes the excitement of dungeon crawling with social interaction. It’s a survival horror experience set in a magical world. Players take on the roles of five brave (or maybe not-so-bright) apprentices tasked with scaling a tower belonging to an enemy mage and destroying it. They’ll use silly, but not very strong, spells, and have to speak the spell incantations into their microphone – mess up the pronunciation, and things could go horribly wrong! Expect plenty of hilarious failures and a lot of fun.
I’m really excited about this new game! The idea is that you and your friends have to sneak into a tower and cause some trouble, but it’s incredibly challenging. You’re constantly trying to avoid the Archmage who protects it, and he’s got all sorts of nasty things guarding the place – traps, monsters, truly terrifying creatures… It reminds me a bit of Phasmophobia and Mage Arena mixed together, which is a fantastic combination! More and more people are getting hyped about it every day, and I can see why. There’s a demo on Steam right now, and even that little bit shows how much potential this game has. Plus, it’s already become incredibly popular – it’s currently in the top 50 most wishlisted games on Steam!
4. PIONER
A Weird Combination, But An Extremely Fun One
PIONER is a fast-paced game that blends the look of Fallout with the high-quality graphics of Call of Duty, and throws in survival and extraction shooter elements. The result is a game that takes the best features from popular titles like Escape from Tarkov and the now-discontinued The Cycle.
Even though the game is still in development and has some matchmaking problems, players are really enjoying the huge amount of content it offers. Its interesting survival features – like crafting, player versus environment and player versus player combat, and a wide variety of weapons – are also big draws. It’s a thrilling game that’s worth checking out.
5. Survive The Nights
Has One Of The Most Unique Zombie Survival Experiences
- Release Date: Dec 5 2025
- Developers: a2z Interactive
- Available Platforms: PC (Steam)
Survive The Nights is a unique zombie survival game focused on constant movement as you try to outrun relentless hordes. It blends cooperative gameplay with crafting and building elements, and lets you customize a motorhome with defenses like spikes and barbed wire to help you survive.
Every vehicle in the game can be transformed into a heavily fortified base on wheels – you can turn anything from a standard muscle car to a prison bus into a zombie-pulverizing machine. While the graphics aren’t polished and it still feels a little unrefined, this is one of the most enjoyable cooperative zombie survival games released since 7 Days to Die, and that really shows how much potential it has.
