A player in Pokemon Legends: Z-A made a regrettable decision when they gifted a Shiny Feebas to a non-playable character. What seemed like a good idea at the moment didn’t turn out as expected.
As a long-time Pokémon fan, I’ve always loved Shiny Pokémon – they’re just so cool and hard to find! It’s been interesting watching how rare they’ve been throughout the different games. I’ve heard that Pokémon Legends: Z-A has some new ways to make finding them a little easier, but it still mostly comes down to luck. Because they’re so rare, I’d never think to just give one away to a random character in the game – that would be crazy!
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Player Laments Shiny Feebas
A Pokémon player on Reddit, username CassowaryCrow, shared a frustrating experience from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. They accidentally gave a rare, Shiny Feebas to an NPC, even though the NPC only asked for a regular one. The player hoped the NPC would keep the Shiny Feebas visible in the game world, but instead, the NPC released it! She explained she wanted the Shiny Feebas to swim around with the Magikarp, meaning the player could no longer see their special Pokémon.
People responding to the post were mostly shocked by what happened, and many joked about reporting it to the police. Others pointed out that releasing a wild animal into an established environment is a bad idea, which is what Soucian did. Players have noticed that Feebas will eventually reappear after you give one away, but unfortunately, CassowaryCrow’s shiny Feebas wouldn’t come back even then. Some thought the NPC hinted she’d release the Feebas after receiving it, but she never actually said that. She gets angry if you don’t give her one, and specifically asks for a Feebas to keep, so it’s likely she intended to keep it all along.
What’s the Point of Handing Over a Feebas Anyway?
Losing a rare, Shiny Pokémon is always frustrating, but giving the trainer a regular Feebas is a good idea. This request, found in Wild Zone 2 as part of the ‘Feebas’s New Friends’ side quest, not only encourages more Feebas to appear, but also rewards you with ₽1,600 and a valuable Prism Scale. This scale is key to evolving Feebas into Milotic. If you only have one Feebas, you’ll need to find another to use the scale, but it’s a useful way to get the item and progress towards getting a Milotic.
CassowaryCrow regretted giving their rare, shiny Feebas to Soucian, but thankfully, the story had a positive resolution. One player was so upset by the event that they reloaded an earlier save file, getting their Feebas back – though not everyone is so fortunate. Another player shared that they accidentally gave a shiny Alpha Feebas, already holding a valuable Prism Scale, to the NPC. Because the Pokemon is given as a gift and can’t be traded, it won’t evolve and is ultimately released into the water, lost forever.
