VR Developer nDreams Announces Round Of Layoffs

As a veteran gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen the industry ebb and flow through thick and thin. The news of yet another studio, nDreams, facing layoffs is disheartening, to say the least. I remember when I first played Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord back in 2018, it was a game that truly showcased the potential of VR gaming.

VR games developer nDreams has announced sweeping layoffs at the studio.

On a recent LinkedIn update, the game studio known for titles such as Powerwash Simulator VR, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, and others, disclosed their decision to reduce their workforce by as much as 17.5%.

After examining numerous options for several months in a difficult virtual reality games market, which is part of a larger challenging gaming environment, it’s unfortunate that we find ourselves needing to consider letting go of skilled and valuable team members,” the statement reads.

In this latest wave of job cuts, the organization has indicated that it might affect every department, even those at the highest levels, such as the executive team.

Since 2013, we’ve been dedicated exclusively to Virtual Reality (VR) development. This journey has brought us up against numerous obstacles as we strive to transform a small independent studio into a global leader in VR game creation. The toughest aspect has been the occasional loss of talented team members, but our passion for Extended Reality (XR) gaming remains unwavering. We’re determined to keep pushing the boundaries of technology and the market.

We’re confident that our proposed new system will empower us to offer superior service to both existing and upcoming audiences, helping us develop groundbreaking titles in the future. The forthcoming games FRENZIES and VENDETTA FOREVER remain unaffected, and we’re thrilled for everyone to experience them soon.
