Satisfactory: How To Get Water Extractor

As an experienced gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the world of Satisfactory, I can confidently say that the Water Extractor is a game-changer! While Biomass Burners were sufficient when I was just starting out, the escalating power demands as you upgrade your HUB and Space Elevator can leave even the most seasoned players scrambling for energy solutions.

For beginners in the game Satisfactory, a few Biomass Burners can suffice for maintaining your equipment’s operation. However, as you progress by enhancing The HUB and constructing the Space Elevator, your power requirements will dramatically increase due to the high energy consumption of new machinery. While it is possible to use multiple Biomass Burners to power a single machine, this strategy is far from optimal.

Luckily, Biomass Burners are just one of the five power generators available in Satisfactory. The next power generator you will unlock is the Coal Generator, but before building it, you will need to construct a Water Extractor to acquire the water needed to run the generator. The Water Extractor is a simple fluid extractor capable of drawing water from deep water sources. In Satisfactory, you will need water to run powerful electricity generators. In this guide, you will learn all about the Water Extractor, including how to unlock it, the materials required to build it, and how to use it.

How to Unlock the Water Extractor in Satisfactory

To access the Water Extractor, first, you should reach Tier 3 at The HUB. You can do this by completing the initial stage of deliveries at the Space Elevator. If you haven’t activated the Space Elevator yet, you’ll need to finish all upgrades in Tier 0 to complete the onboarding process. Once that’s done, the Space Elevator will become accessible.

After opening it up, you’ll require 500 units of Concrete, 250 Iron Plates, 400 Iron Rods, and 1500 Wires for constructing the Space Elevator. Post construction, you will manufacture 50 Smart Plating pieces and transport them via the Space Elevator to access Tier 3 and Tier 4 at The HUB. Lastly, accomplish the Coal Power achievement within Tier 3 to unlock both the Water Extractor along with other buildings such as the Coal Generator and Pipelines. To finish the Coal Power milestone, you’ll need 150 Reinforced Iron Plates, 50 Rotors, and 500 Cables.

Unlocking the Water Extractor takes a lot of effort, and you will probably be excited to use it as soon as possible. To build a Water Extractor, you will need to craft the following items:

  • 20 Copper Sheets – Crafted using Copper Ingots
  • 10 Reinforced Iron Plates – Crafted using Iron Plates and Screws
  • 10 Rotors – Crafted using Iron Rods and Screws

Once you’ve collected all necessary components, seek out a substantial water expanse since the Water Extractor can solely be constructed over water surfaces. Upon discovering a sufficiently deep water zone, hit Q to enter Build Mode. Then, select the Water Extractor from the Fluid Extractors section within the Production tab. While positioning the structure, make sure the outlet is oriented towards the desired direction for your water pipelines, such as towards a Coal Generator.

After constructing the Water Extraction device, you’ll discover that a power supply is essential for its operation. If you’re new to building Water Extractors, your initial option will be Biomass Burners as your power source. Set up a Biomass Burner close to the Water Extractor and link them together using an electrical cable.

Once you supply the Biomass Burner with fuel and link the power source, the Water Extractor will automatically begin drawing water. After that, you may lay pipes and join them to Coal Power Stations or Nuclear Power Facilities.

A Water Extractor requires only 20 MW to run, and a Biomass Burner produces 30 MW at standard clock speeds. If you plan to run multiple Water Extractors, you will need more power sources for efficiency. As you progress further in Satisfactory, Biomass Burners won’t suffice for your energy needs. In that case, you will have to use Coal Generators to power Water Extractors and then use the water to run Nuclear Power Plants.
