GTA 5 Finally Has Anti-Cheat on PC 9 Years After Release

As a seasoned GTA V player with over 3000 hours under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension as Rockstar Games finally decides to implement anti-cheat measures after nine long years! The modding community has always been a significant part of the PC version of GTA V, and it’s uncertain how this move will impact them.

Nine years following the launch of Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games has now incorporated an anti-cheat system into its PC version.

Initially, TexFunz2 came across the information about GTA 5‘s update on PC from a post by X (previously known as Twitter). In the post was a screenshot of steamID patch notes, which indicated that Rockstar Games has chosen BattlEye for its anti-cheat measures.

It’s great that the community is discussing the potential introduction of an anti-cheat system in GTA 5, but there’s a question mark over whether this will affect the modding community. As of now, Rockstar Games haven’t officially confirmed the implementation, but we might hear about it soon.

For individuals who are acquainted with anti-cheating measures and the cheating community, it’s common knowledge that BattlEye, despite being used, is not particularly effective at deterring cheaters. Unfortunately, Rainbow 6 Siege, another game that employs BattlEye, has faced criticism from the gaming community regarding its weak anti-cheat systems in recent times. The game has been plagued with hackers as a result.

It’s unclear at this point if the battery feature will curb cheating in GTA 5 on PC, but it’s certainly a positive development for those who continue to play the game. Even nine years after its release, GTA 5 on PC consistently attracts approximately 160,000 concurrent players daily.
