Yukinobu Tatsu’s comic series titled “Dandadan” has been published in Shueisha’s digital magazine Shōnen Jump+ since April 2021, accumulating 15 volumes thus far. The narrative revolves around Momo Ayase, a student who trusts in the existence of spirits but not extraterrestrial life, and her introverted classmate Ken Takakura, who believes in aliens but dismisses ghosts – until they made a wager to explore locations said to be haunted or supernatural. Later on, Momo is kidnapped by aliens and gains psychic abilities as her chakras are activated, while Ken becomes possessed by a spirit, granting him immense power. As the story unfolds, both Momo and Ken team up to fight entities that they once considered mere figments of our imagination.

In a new anime titled “Dandadan“, Fūga Yamashiro (previously an assistant director on “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!“) will take the helm as the director. Hiroshi Seko will be overseeing and writing the scripts, while Naoyuki Onda contributes character designs, with a special focus on yokai designs by Yoshimichi Kameda (known for work on “Mob Psycho 100“) and art direction by Junichi Higashi (art director of “Cowboy Bebop“). The music will be composed by Kensuke Ushio (music composer of “CHAINSAW MAN“). The opening theme song is “Otokone” by Creepy Nuts, and the ending theme tune is “TAIDADA” by ZUTOMAYO.
