New Sports Anime 2025

New Sports Anime 2025

As a seasoned gamer and anime enthusiast who has seen countless hours of sports-themed shows, I’m genuinely excited about the upcoming slate of 2025 sports anime. It’s refreshing to see such an array of unusual activities taking center stage, from ice skating to golf, and even bowling!

As we move towards 2025, the lineup of sports-themed anime is gradually becoming clearer, hinting at a diverse range of activities that will grace our screens next year. While genres like isekai and romance might dominate the scene, sports remain a constant presence in each anime season, often with just two or three shows. As we bid farewell to 2024 and welcome the new year, it appears that 2025 will showcase some less conventional sports. Although baseball and soccer are likely to feature at some point, there’s room for more unique titles like golf or figure skating series. Frankly, a bowling anime would be most welcome!

Over time, we’ll uncover an increasing number of new sports anime that are scheduled for release. Although there’s still a lot to announce, some shows have already marked their spots on the 2025 calendar, and they will all strive to claim the title of the year’s top show in this genre. Let’s take a closer look at each one.

Winter 2025 Sports Anime

Medalist

The manga titled “Medalist” chronicles the journey of Inori and Tsukasa as they strive to win the Olympic gold medal in ice skating, a goal they have been pursuing relentlessly over multiple volumes.

As a gaming enthusiast diving into an under-the-radar manga world, I’ve found myself pleasantly surprised by its solid reputation. It all boils down to the charming duo at its core and a storyline that feels authentic. Inori’s dream seems like a long shot, but she’s got the skills and determination to make it happen as an exceptional figure skater. Tsukasa takes on the role of her mentor and coach, their bond adding depth and emotion to this anime adventure.

ENGI is an unexpected choice for this series given that their studio isn’t known for adapting sports narratives. However, ENGI has a few quality shows to their name, with “Trapped in a Dating Sim” being the standout, so here’s hoping that “Medalist” receives a superior adaptation.

Sorairo Utility

Initially, Sorairo Utility made its appearance in 2021 through a short movie, which will be further developed in Winter 2025. Although it’s not particularly extraordinary, the film offers innocent entertainment and gives a hint of what the complete series might offer: A cheerful anime centered around golf, featuring adorable girls.

It’s quite interesting to note that golf has been a recurring theme lately, with shows like “Birdie Wing,” “Tonbo!”, and “Rising Impact” focusing on this sport. What’s even more intriguing is that each of these series stands out uniquely, offering distinct narratives. It appears that “Sorairo Utility” is gearing up to join their ranks, promising a light-hearted and amusing tale about three companions enjoying themselves at the golf range.

Upcoming 2025 Sports Anime With No Release Season

100m (Movie)

The upcoming sports anime film in 2025, titled Hyakuemu, is derived from a complete manga series that ran for less than a year until its conclusion in 2019. Despite its brevity, this means the anime has a fully developed story to adapt, and a feature-length production seems appropriate given the manga’s compact 40 chapters.

In the realm of short-distance running, the storyline of Hyakuemu centers around a heated competition between Akane Taketsugu and Yuuki Katayama. Both characters have exceptional abilities, with Akane mentoring Yuuki in his craft. Now, they find themselves squaring off against each other in their respective careers.

Turkey!

Absolutely, here it is: As a gaming enthusiast, I’m hyped up for this one – the bowling anime! Titled “Turkey!“, it revolves around a lively band of female characters who share an undying passion for bowling. They appear to be part of a team, though details about the show remain scarce at the moment. However, the trailer has given us a sneak peek into the voice actors who will bring our favorite characters to life.

Based on the promotional materials, it appears that “Turkey!” might resemble another popular sports anime featuring adorable girls, such as Cute Girls Doing Cute Things. However, it’s still too early to make definite conclusions. One thing is certain: they will be wearing uniforms, which suggests that competition among various teams will likely be involved. It’s worth noting that the studio behind “Turkey!”, Bakken Record, has previously produced “Ippon again!” in 2023, a well-received judo anime, despite being relatively new.

Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray

New Sports Anime 2025

It’s surprising how enduringly popular a series about racing equine girls, specifically Uma Musume Pretty Derby, has become. This franchise has expanded into games, manga, and anime, and it continues to thrive without any signs of waning. The anime alone boasts three seasons, a spin-off, and a movie, with reviews ranging from “quite good” to “outstanding.” If all goes well, Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray could mark the pinnacle for this franchise.

Drawing from the popular manga titled “Cinderella Gray“, the narrative brings Oguri Cap into sharp focus, detailing her rigorous training, unyielding determination, and the obstacles she faces as she strives for greatness. The tale is expected to be both emotionally mature and occasionally somber, yet it will continue to deliver thrilling races that are characteristic of “Uma Musume“.

Wandance

New Sports Anime 2025

Under various names, Wandance centers around the art of freestyle dancing and the liberation it offers. Shy due to a stutter, Kaboku typically chooses to stay out of the spotlight; however, he is motivated to join his school’s dance club after witnessing a girl named Hikari in action. Despite demonstrating a knack for moving rhythmically with the music, Kaboku still has a significant journey ahead before he gains self-assurance.

Wandance appears promising, given its high-quality source content. The graphic novel Coffee boasts an impressive visual aesthetic and features two exceptionally powerful main characters. Both Kaboku and Hikari stand out individually and work well together.
