As a die-hard fan of horror films, I can confidently say that the addition of Demián Bichir to The Black Phone 2 is nothing short of exhilarating! With his extensive background in chilling roles, he’s undoubtedly the perfect fit for this spine-tingling sequel.

The Black Phone was one of the most well-crafted horror movies released in 2022, from the sad family at the heart of the story to Ethan Hawke’s memorable villain The Grabber. While horror fans wait for the sequel to be released, they will want to know that a new cast member has been added.

As reported by Deadline, Demián Bichir is set to star in “The Black Phone 2”. Details about his role have not yet been disclosed, but given his impressive acting background, it’s clear that he will bring an excellent addition to the chilling narrative of this sequel.

Bichir is no stranger to scary stories and starred on the TV series Let the Right One In, which is an adaptation of the vampire movie. He also played Detective Marco Ruiz on The Bridge and Esteban Carlos Reyes on the dark comedy Weeds. He also starred in several horror movies, including the 2018 remake of The Grudge and The Nun, which has a terrifying ending.

This indicates that Hawke may once again embody The Grabber, while the other cast members will likely reprise their roles. Given where the original story ended, it seems we’ll pick up the narrative from there. The promotional efforts for “The Black Phone” were strong, and the acting, scriptwriting, and direction were top-notch as well. According to Box Office Mojo, “The Black Phone” was a box office success, earning a total of $161,440,742 worldwide.

Despite the mystery surrounding the storyline of The Black Phone 2, Scott Derrickson, its director, shared insights into his decision to be involved in the project during an interview with Slash Film. As he hasn’t tackled a sequel before, it appears that he put a lot of thought into why he chose to take on this particular project. Derrickson expressed:

“I pondered over whether I would be ready to produce ‘The Black Phone 2’, my final film project, if that were the case. After careful consideration, I found a concept or angle for the movie that truly energized me. It was as if I had said yes, without hesitation; it’s the next film I want to create.

In the movie “The Black Phone,” it’s the child actors, specifically Mason Thames as Finney and Madeline McGraw as Gwen, who truly shine. Their performances as siblings are remarkable, making their characters stand out. They’ve already been living in terror due to their abusive and alcoholic father, and when they discover about The Grabber, a kidnapper from their neighborhood, the fear intensifies. We don’t know if Finney and Gwen will attempt to face The Grabber again or what becomes of these intriguing characters in “The Black Phone 2.” The sequel leaves us guessing.
