As a seasoned survivor of the icy wastelands, I can confidently say that building districts in Frostpunk 2 is no walk in the park. It requires strategy, patience, and a good deal of frostbreaking – something we all know too well.
As a gamer in the world of Frostpunk 2, I find myself constructing entire districts rather than individual buildings. This change streamlines the process, allowing me to concentrate on broader, strategic choices instead of getting bogged down with the nitty-gritty details.
The Districts of Frostpunk 2
In Frostpunk 2, there are five primary sectors: Residential, Provisions, Mining, Manufacturing, and Distribution. By discovering more research in the Idea Tree, you can upgrade each area. For instance, one of the initial technologies you can unlock is the Dust Coal Mine, which boosts the Mining District by setting up a specialized extraction facility that increases the effectiveness of coal mining operations.

How to Build Districts in Frostpunk 2
In Frostpunk 2, you can create districts by navigating to the District Construction option located at the bottom-right corner of the screen in the user interface. This option is represented by an icon that resembles three buildings or crates stacked together. Another quick way to access this menu is by pressing the “B” key on your keyboard.
To establish a new district, first, you need to eliminate the solidified ice by employing the Frostbreaking feature, which is the last icon situated on the bottom-right corner of your HUD. This icon resembles three arrows radiating outward from a central circle. By utilizing this Frostbreak function, you’ll clear enough territory for each district. Keep in mind that districts need between three and six tiles of space to be built, so choose your spots wisely.
Once the ice has been broken, pick the district you’d like to build, then find a nearby, single white tile to position your first section. Then, connect the dots (or tiles) until all space requirements are met and a checkmark appears. Simply tap that checkmark to give the command for a new district construction.
Building the District will require some time from your workforce, but you can quickly advance the game’s timeline using the 1, 2, and 3 hotkeys to expedite the process.
