Contested Health Explained In Space Marine 2

Contested Health Explained In Space Marine 2

As a seasoned Space Marine veteran, I can attest that the art of survival in the grim darkness of the far future has never been more exhilarating than in Space Marine 2. The relentless barrage of enemy fire and swarms of relentless foes have me constantly on edge, but it’s all part of the game, right?

Regardless of your approach in Space Marine 2, players can expect to sustain damage from potent long-range weapons or hordes of smaller foes, leaving little room for respite. Your primary line of protection is your armor, symbolized by the silver bars beneath your health, which will be depleted before your health when you are hit.

As my armor disintegrates, I can feel my health slipping away – it’s something that needs immediate attention. Health is tricky to replenish, but luckily, there’s still a chance to regain some before it’s completely depleted. This contested health isn’t as tough to recover if you’ve got the right strategies up your sleeve.

What Is Contested Health & How Do You Restore It

Contested Health Explained In Space Marine 2

Contested Health is health that has been lost but can be restored if you act quickly. Contested Health is represented by the white line on your health bar, and it will quickly go down if you take more damage or take too long to restore it. To restore contested health, simply attack enemies with any method and deal damage without taking any more damage.

In the heat of the game, players must act swiftly and boldly to restore their Health as it dwindles, but be mindful that such aggressive play could potentially lead to more harm than good.

How To Overheal Contested Health

Restoring Contested Health not only brings back any just-lost health, but it also allows for gaining additional health beyond the original contested amount. When an enemy inflicts damage while your health is contested, they will return some health to you, and the exact amount returned is determined after the enemy has been damaged. With a single-target weapon, you’ll typically receive back the same amount of Contested Health as health.

If you manage to take out numerous enemies simultaneously, the health you’ll regain will significantly exceed your Contested Health level, and it will be restored too. When you find yourself with Contested Health, opt for a powerful area-of-effect weapon, grenade, or melee weapon to deal with groups of smaller swarming enemies. This strategy will maximize the health you’ll recuperate.

In a cluster of adversaries known as gaunts, successfully tossing a powerful grenade can often replenish a significant portion of your health, regardless of the remaining Contested Health. If you’re brave enough to engage a feeble foe briefly to secure a small amount of Contested Health before launching a grenade, it could result in multiple enemy casualties and a substantial health boost for you. The most effective weapons for maximizing Contested Health are:

  • Frag Grenade
  • Chainsword
