Wildkeepers Rising announced, is a new creature collector with a twist

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for creature collectors and anime-inspired games, I can hardly contain my excitement for Wildkeepers Rising! The blend of a survivor-like game with bullet-heaven mechanics sounds like an adrenaline rush that’s tailored just for me.

The creators of Mech Armada, Lioncode Games, have unveiled Wildkeepers Rising – a unique blend of creature collection and survival-style gaming. This high-action game, often referred to as “bullet-heaven,” offers an exciting gameplay experience, as demonstrated in the latest trailer showcasing its features.

In simpler terms, the team suggests that you’ll lead a group of fantastical guardians to battle against waves of foes in this independently developed game, which is reminiscent of classic fantasy and anime stories, and features hand-drawn art.

In Wildkeepers Rising, you’ll experience escalating power progressions and delightful creature synergies as your Guardians become increasingly powerful against a diverse array of exotic enemies in the midst of the fusion between survival-based and bullet hell subgenres. Wildkeepers introduces role-playing game (RPG) elements to this genre, showcasing endearing characters, narrative, and visuals reminiscent of the legendary works by Akira Toriyama, Hayao Miyazaki, and Jim Henson.

In simpler terms, Wildkeepers Rising is an engaging action game that combines the addictive thrill of collecting creatures with the rapid-fire intensity of a shoot ’em up. You’ll encounter and tame extraordinary Guardians while battling waves of menacing monsters invading the world. The art style draws inspiration from classic fantasy and anime, creating a unique hand-drawn indie experience filled with diverse levels and gameplay modes to discover!

Since the initial formula of survivor games has been modified with elements like mining, weapons, and divine advantages, Wildkeepers takes things a step further by incorporating charming creature collection and team dynamics into the addictive gameplay and replay value found in games such as Vampire Survivors or Death Must Die – as explained by Sergio Garces, Director of Lioncode Games.

Lyle Moore, the Art Director, is merging elements from his favorite anime and fantasy series to craft monsters that are both enjoyable and fantastical. He draws significant influence from classic arcade beat-em-ups in developing our diverse character lineup. Given our small team size, we’re putting forth a lot of effort to create a tribute to the inspirations that sparked our passion for creation.

Wildkeepers Rising doesn’t have a release date yet, but will be coming to PC via Steam.
